Great little camera so far.
So far I’m loving this camera. The price was amazing and it’s super easy to use. It’s light also. Mainly got it to get into photography and was dying to get pictures of the moon. This little camera did not disappoint. I will update later to see how is holds up in general but so far I loving it!Update 1month: Still an amazing first camera. Might want to invest in a tripod lol super easy to use still and no issues. Only a month in though but she's doing good for what I needed her for.

Awesome entry-level DSLR camera!
To be honest, the only reason why I bought this was because all modern digital cameras lack the manual control functionalities of the camera. Nowadays, everything is "automatically" managed by the computer within the camera which, in most cases, ruins the pictures.I am so glad that I made the switch to this camera! It does everything that my other cameras does not do! It allows me to manually adjust the focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so much more!I will admit that the camera can be a bit "much" to those who are new to the DSLR universe, but I will say that after you play with the camera for a while, you will know all of the menus, options and their locations like a pro! What I love about this camera is that you have the ability to switch out the stock lens for a macro lens (those insane close up photos) or for a telephoto lens (for those far distant pictures) if you choose! For me, personally, the stock lens does more than enough, but if I have the urge to buy one of the other lenses, I can do that because the camera is made for expand-ability!Contrary to what others may say, personally, I believe that the JPEG images are super clean and crisp. While you are not supposed to use JPEGs for post-production, I believe you can get away with some minor post with these files. They are so clean with no visible JPEG compression artifacts! It's a shame that the NEF RAW format is not widely supported, but once it is, I would switch over as soon as possible to get all the color information you need from your photos!A little notice to new consumers: When you turn off your camera, disable the WIFI on your camera. I accidentally left the WIFI on and forgot about it. The camera, while in the "OFF" position, can still use WIFI, which will drain your battery quickly. But, on a full charge, if WIFI is turned off and dependent on your usage of the camera, the battery can last quite some time! All in all, I think that this camera is a steal for it's price! For those who want to experience a DSLR camera without breaking the bank, I will definitely get this camera before they're all gone!(I took 2 pictures of the camera, one with a more practical use of the camera, to show off the color reproduction. I took a photo of the grass in my backyard. The colors in that picture could not have been any closer to reality than it is in the photo! The second picture is a test to push the "macro" aspect of the stock lens to it's limits. It's a closeup of my TV, where you can see the subpixel elements. For me, it's a good-enough macro lens, but if I want to see the solder holding the pixels together, I have that option if I think the macro lens is a good investment!)

Best camera out there for beginners IMHO
The d3500 is smaller, lighter and has a considerably longer battery life in comparison to the d3400. The controls are completely on the right side of the camera, which some larger-handed folks have mentioned as a down-side, however with the new redesigned grip I find it advantageous to be able to change the settings with one hand (I also have banana-hands). When taking continuous shots there is a bit of a longer buffer time, however this does correlate with the card being used so paired with a faster memory card say, a SanDisk extreme pro, you're in a much better position. For an entry level camera such as this one, you're actually able to pump up the ISO quite a bit before seeing that digital noise, which is impressive. The ISO shortcut has been removed on the d3500 from the d3400, but that's a minor issue for me. Low light photography lacked the brilliant colors seen with the naked eye, however a super quick tune up with the camera raw filter in photoshop and that was easily amended. Honestly the only thing that really chaps my ass is the removal of remote photography. I've ended up using the remote photography feature on the Nikon Snapbridge app for my phone (using bluetooth), however if you'd rather not deal with that fuss you can always select a timer. Pair this bad boy with a Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G and boom, awesome intro set up for portrait photography. Love it! (just fyi all of these photos were taken with the kit lens f/3.5-5.6 18-55mm)

Amazing Camera - I'm very happy with the purchase
I'm writing this after owning this camera about a year. I stared my photography with a Canon AE-1. Then over the years I used an assortment of Canon digital camera. This is my true DSLR and first Nikon. I couldn't be any more happier. I bought the two lens package. I have used my 70-300mm and I love the reach of that lens but often I just shoot everything with the 18-55mm lens. I have taken over 1000 shorts with this camera in that time. I set the ISO setting to max out at 1600 and use the "P" mode for most of my photography. I also like the fact that battery last such a long time. My biggest issue with Canon cameras was the poor battery performance. I used to lug around three spare batteries to feed be beast with Canons. With this camera I can shoot all weekend with one charge. I must also mentioned that the the great deal Amazon gave me on this camera on the Black Friday deal. I paid $350 for two lens package plus the carrying bag. Great job Amazon! Great job Nikon!

Excellent all around camera
I had a D50 DSLR for years and this is the replacement to that camera. Excellent night and low light features (aquarium no flash pictures were excellent). Very pleased.

Ease of Operation for Beginners
As it was a used, reconditioned item, I took it to an accredited camera shop and the owner checked it out completely. He said the previous owner took excellent care of it, and that I got a very good price point for the condition of the camera.

Great value
Professional quality images if you know what you're doing and the 70-300mm lens is quality. The 18-55mm isn't as great but it's a kit lens, it's as good as you can as for I guess. Seller was great, got more in the package than was in the description like a case, cheap flash and cleaning stuff which is a major plus

Phone can never do what a DSLR can do
Got the set 1. Camera body 2. Kit lens 18-55mm VR 3. Kit lens 70-300 mm for Rs 33.5k. The camera sensor has exceptional imaging quality. I'm new to DSLR. It has been giving a true artistic expression of reality, which even a best quality phone camera can never do. Best camera for those who while pursuing photo clicking have come to know the limitations of a phone camera. See the pictures I have taken with and enjoyThank you Jeff and Co. for trustworthy, timely and secure delivery.

Satisfied with my first DSLR camera
With max ISO 25600 you will get a better control over low light shots, than similar beginner-level Cannon models.I chose this camera over Cannon 1500D because I heard a lot of critic reviews, and all of them were recommending Nikon. The camera has a good grip, and doesn't much weigh, so you can easily take shots with one hand. Most people have complained about no WiFi. I haven't missed that feature much. Because, I will not have a WiFi while taking shots outside. I can easily transfer the pictures to my computer using the SD card reader. The camera doesn't have geo-tagging feature. But you can easily pair the SnapBridge App with the camera, and it will use phone's location and use it for geo-tagging. I really liked it.Overall the camera is great.Things I missed:- It has a fixed display. Would have been great if it rotated.P.S. I got all the items from Amazon, the Camera body, lens, bag and a 16GB SD card.
