Starlights SL-1000 Smart Light 1000 12-volt Exterior Motion Light, Black -016-SL1000B

This review is late in coming since I purchased this light last year. I had high hopes for this light which I installed on my motorhome replacing my present porch light. The light does a nice job lighting the area around my door but I am disappointed in the motion sensor portion, First it advised that it would only sense a large object like a person and not other objects but that was never the case, it goes off when it senses any movement. it was too sensitive from the factory and was always going on and off so I lowered its sensitivity but it has a mind of its own and now doesn't go on when I am standing under it. I am very disappointed.

Very powerful motion detecting 12v RV light. It does not have a seal for mounting I used Marine Silicone and left a little opening at the bottom just in case. I didn't like the seal around the lamp, so I put more silicone around it as well. There is a adjustments in where the lamp is located to set the motion detectors. There is also a separate wire that you can use to activate other items as well. Does not have a switch. My camper did not have a switch to turn on the lamp, so I had to add a switch. When you turn on and off it works like a regular lamp. You have to do a quick On Off On in order to set the motion detector. You can tell in the daylight it is set when a blue LED flashes. or green LED at night. It picks up about 30 feet away, as received.Customer service was awesome! My unit arrived with a lamp that had disconnected from the base (wires disconnected) contacted Starlights by email and I received a new bulb quickly. No issues, very friendly service.

Extremely easy to install. Abjuster is under light lens and must be adjusted at night in the dark, to know if your settings are working as you want. Many tiny screws to loose if dropped. I never changed factory settings and during the day it's off and during the night it's on. Bright enough to light up patio area, however with the awning out and locked into the down position it keeps the light from flaring into our neighbors windows.

I bought this unit to replace an older one I installed about 5 years ago. The old unit had issues with the motion sensor lenses. The lenses were not UV-protected and rotted out after 2 years. A friend of mine had the same problem. The vendor provided us with replacement lenses which worked okay. After 5 years, I guess too much travel vibration caused my light to operate intermittently while parked. I have to "thuimp" the housing to "wake it up" (my friend's unit works fine). So I ordered a replacement unit. When it arrived and I opened the box, the LED bulb was found separated from the base. Not sure if the broken bulb was broken during shipment or if the bulb was defective. Anyway, I put in a call to get a replacement bulb and I'm waiting for a reply. I'll update this posting when I get a reply

I upgraded our coach's stock porch light with this one. It comes with an LED bulb now, but I ended up swapping in a higher output LED bulb. The motion sensor is nice at night. You'll need to be comfortable with installing exterior fixtures on RVs properly. Don't take any shortcuts and do it right, otherwise you may end up with an electrical fire and/or water intrusion.

Purchased this to replace the stock light on my motorhome which had stopped working. I had this product before . It works really well except the white lens on side of light only last a couple years and then the plastic disintegrates and lets water into fixture then it’s no good. I bought another pair for my motorhome. Hopefully I’ll get 3 years out of them. It’s really bright and the motion picks you up from 30 feet away. They just need make the white plastic lens a little more durable.

Said in the description that it would fit most all porch lights on a RV, NOT SO, did not come with any kind of sealant gasket. One day past my return window, when I went to install!!!
