Before I bought this tool I had spent at least 3 hours messing around with the screws and almost stripping them with an undersize phillips bit. This kit came with the correct size bit (I believe it was a Phillips #3) and with that I was able to get a tight grip even on the damaged ones and first strike- movement! I just can't recommend it enough. This would be really good for demolition and stuff too, like dismantling an RV or something, things like that. I will also say that the bits are a good quality in themselves- I was able to adapt one to a normal driver through a series of shanks and a socket, and the bits do well. I believe 3/8 refers to the tool shank itself, not the bit chuck. I would imaging 5/16 would work, but I don't know and don't have any. I have had very little luck finding a bit to fit this let alone an extension to fit which is what it really needs for tight spaces. The head unit is fairly stocky and won't fit in tight spaces.
