Floor sweeper

a robot dry mop
When I lived in a carpeted place I loved my Roomba, but once I moved to a place with hardwood then I found it to be overly noisy (no carpet muffling the sound? or maybe it's just getting old?), so I ended up cleaning the floor manually and much less often. Didn't want to get a Scooba both because of cost and because most of the floor cleaning is dust and cat fur anyways. When I heard about RoboMaid I thought I'd give it a try @ under $30. This is a nifty device. Basically a self-propelled swifter dry mop. It's relatively quite, no worse than rolling a plastic ball along the floor, since that's more or less exactly what it is: a self-propelled ball pushing a circular dry mop as it goes. I run it every day and am amazed that there is still so much dust/fur to pick up each time. Since this handles all the loose particulate then I don't need to wet mop nearly as much or as carefully, as there are few dust bunnies to chase down.Comes with a dozen of the drop mop sheets. Additional ones run about $0.25 each if you buy in bulk off an auction site, or you can use generic swifter sheets and cut the circular shape out of them (takes 2 sheets @ maybe $0.10 per sheet).

Looks cheap, works fantastically!
I like to try new technologies to make my life easier, so I bought this. Honestly, though, I didn't think it would work. When I took it out of the package, it looked cheap and cheesy: a ufo and a ball in a box. Huh.I would like to thank the person who invented this and the people who sell it, because it is fantastic!Robomaid is so lightweight, it can't knock over anything, so it's safe to let it roam around when you're not home. It picks up hair, lint, and dust so you never have to push a swiffer around your house again! The charger is small and easy to use, and the swiffer-type pads are easy to attach to the velcro on the bottom of the ufo part of it.I highly recommend this product, and invite you to consider buying it if you have hardwood or tile floors. I do a lot of yoga and the only way to avoid that slightly grimy, dusty-floor feeling is to swiffer every day (I live in the city)... but I can look forward to a dust-free floor for the rest of my life now that I have Robomaid! This is technology at its finest: simple, cheap, and time-saving. Way to go, Robomaid!

"ZERO"
I just went back and read the reviews from other customers, hence I do understand why I did purchase 2 of the Robomaids via the Amazon reports. My experience has been very different than those listed and I'm amazed with the satisfaction reports by other customers. First the actual round form that slips around the ball is similar to a flimsy disposable plastic cup, one of which arrived cracked. The ball in the Robomaid in one of my devices does cover a lot of territory. The second purchase only covers about a 6 foot radius and requires me to manually move it. The floors need to be swept before use since it does not pick up anything but dust leaving larger particles behind, including tracked in dirt and burrs from outside on my wood floors. And completely ineffective on my tiled floors. After I finished running the Robomaid the cloth on the bottom of the Robomaid (needs to be replaced after each use), was mildly dirty. After I ran both devices I took my swifter duster across the floor with brief easy movements on the floor and it picked up more dirt than either Robomaid in only a 4 foot radius. The product plus shipping cost me roughly around $35 dollars each, added up to $70 plus the cost of replacement pads= close to $90.I also purchased the iRobot 110 Dirt Dog at the same time. This little device is for workshops, but it was significantly cheaper than the household items by the same company. This little contraption can VACUUM! It does not have some of the features as the household products, but it vacuumed my hard surfaces including tile and wood flooring. It also transitioned from one flooring type to the other- including persian carpets, easily. I had to empty out the dust bin many times the first few times I used it- now that I have used it many times it is unnecessary to empty the device until the end of each session. The draw back is it does not automatically unwind around string (or the fringe on carpets) that the home devices have. I am currently in the process trying to decide on the iRobot to purchase next since I need three to clean my down stairs (I will stick to the old fashion vacuum cleaner for my carpet upstairs). All in all- I would give the Robomaid a "ZERO" if possible. The only positive comment I could possibly make is my cat has been entertained. I would save the money and invest with a longer lasting, higher quality cleaner device like the Dustdog at a $129 and a one year warranty. I am returning the Robomaid at a 20% restocking fee (which will go straight to their trash bin I'm sure) and the cost for shipping back. GOOD LUCK helping yourself keep a cleaner home!

ROBOMAID
I had one of the first RoboMaids bought from a TV infomercial in the 90's. It worked great as a floor polisher and dog hair sweeper. I have the parts, except for the charger so, I bought this for what I thought was $5.95 plus shipping. It was $53.95, it did not work and the service phone numbers do not work!! So sorry it did not work out. I am sentimental about my first robot! Cd

Moves too slowly
Easy to order. I have been using this for years. It has been working extremely well and I love it!Unfortunately, though, the ones I just purchased through Amazon didn't 'warm up' in a timely manor... I bought 2 of these. My stepdugher will let me know if she has any problems.

Four Stars
I had back surgery and could not sweep normally. This has helped a lot.

The Most work you'll get done, without doing it yourself!!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE ITRoboMaid isn't for deep cleaning; it's for daily use. This product doesn't eliminate your job of a really good dust mopping, rejuvenating and refreshing your floor. This product, used daily, really does a great light sweeping, while you are doing something else or nothing else.If you want to step up the performance of your 'little guy'; use a broom for just sweeping out the corners. Your RoboMaid will sweep it up. I have had mine forever; I even sent my daughter-in-laws one, and I have two.
