Great Knee Brace for Walkers
I have arthritis in my knee and a torn menicus so I bought this knee brace for help exercising without pain and stress to my knee. It works great when you're walking. The knee cap stays right in the track and you can walk fast without pain either during the walk or afterward. It will also be great for days when you need to do alot of shopping. It firmly stablizes the knee but that doesn't feel so comfortable if I'm doing other aerobic exercises where I'm bending and moving in various directions. I'm conscious of the brace the whole time and afterward I find that my knee is stiff and I have some pain in it. I think the knee needs to be able to move a little more when I'm doing those things. I'm not sure there's a brace that can work for that. I'm glad I bought the Cho-Pat Patellar Stablizer because I'll be able to get more exercise in this summer by adding some brisk walks to my other exercise routines.

Not for me
I bought this based on the reviews, but this brace does not work for me. I received it today and put it on, walked around the house, and realized the patella opening was not on my knee cap. I took it off and put it back on, making sure I followed the directions on the insert. This time the opening stayed in the middle but slipped down after I walked up and down the stairs. Sigh. So again, I removed it and put it back on, tightening the straps to where the fat on my legs was popping out between the straps. Again, it slipped. And that was only walking around the house. I can't imagine what it'll do on my runs. Another thing that I didn't like about the brace was the velcro straps ended on the inside of the leg. I don't know about anyone else, but when I run, I tend to rub the knees together once in a while and with the straps there, it would scrape the inside of the leg. (This happens with my other full brace.) For thirty five bucks, I expect this to perform better than my much less expensive (but still one I hate and doesn't work for me) Ace brace, but it didn't.And yes, I measured the circumference of the leg, so I know the sizing is correct. For me, the design doesn't work.

Excellent stabilizer. Relieves pain of running and walking
Advertised size is a bit small. Recommended medium based upon circumference of knee. It works but if you wear it for more than a few hours it is very tight and the next size up can be adjusted (Velcro is wonderful). I highly recommend trying this over the neophrane pull up braces so favored by doctors who don't wear them!

Great for stabilizing your kneecap!!
This brace was very helpful for my patellofemoral syndrome--ie, my kneecap would not stay in place, but this brace gave extra support, so that with rest, careful PT, and the brace, my knee has improved. The brace is lightweight and generally comfortable, although the velcro sometimes rubs on my inner knee; if you are between sizes according to measurements, you should size up to avoid this problem. I often use a bit of medical tape under that part of the brace to prevent rubbing.Over the past few years, I have tried at least 15 different knee braces for various conditions, including this kneecap problem, a completely torn hamstring tendon, a torn ligament, etc. I have tried many versions of knee braces, from a minimally supportive version purchased inexpensively on Amazon, to an $800 knee brace with complicated settings (like controlling how much the knee can bend). This Cho-Pat brace is definitely the best I've tried for patellofemoral syndrome.

Great stability! Some comfort-related design flaws.
Just shy of 5 stars. It really is a great brace and I used it for about 100 miles of backpacking and it never let me down! I have an issue with my kneecap moving out of place and causing a lot of pain and this kept it right where it was supposed to be the whole time. I’ve also used it for shorter hikes and even some runs and it has held up well.So why not 5 stars? Well...who decided the straps should end on the inside of the leg?! The ends of the straps rub on the inside of my other leg if I am wearing shorts (like for runs) and have caused scrapes and burns from the Velcro. Also, in the course of hiking for several hours, the straps would cause some rubbing sores. These things can be mitigated, so not worth bumping the stars any lower than 4 for the excellent support it provides.

Literally the best purchase I've made so far without exaggeration
Literally the best purchase I've made so far without exaggeration. I had horrible doctors growing up who all misdiagnosed me, and my parents also mixed in eastern medicine on occasion, too, which I later learned was basically nothing more than random plants piggybacking on the placebo effect. So long story short, I had patellar tendonitis for just over 10 years, and I was pretty sure it was never going away.Somehow, this seemed to have fixed my problem almost permanently. I don't suffer from random inflammation attacks in both legs anymore, and my squats are through the roof. I've only had these for a little less than a year, and they accomplished what 9 years of physical therapy, electro shock therapy, rest, leg exercises, and stretches couldn't. If you have knee problems, I can't recommend anything more strongly. I was seriously considering surgery for a while, but now I don't feel like I have to. I can't say that you'll have similar experiences, but this definitely worked for me.

Misguided sizing
I ordered this item after checking the measurement guide and ordering the recommended size. I received it the next day and when I slipped it on the bottom barely fit and the top strap would not close. This item is non-returnable but is replaceable if defective. I consider it defective since it doesn't fit using the measuring guidelines provided. I was not even able to select a replacement option. Now I'm stuck with a piece of medical equipment that I can't use.
