Certainly no replacement for a good tripod, but as long as it's compatible with your monopod, it's a stellar addition to a mobile set up.Makes tilts, pans, and even pushes/pulls much easier. If you tighten down the tension screws, it will stand on it's own.I added an ankle weight near the bottom-end and now it's a decent Steadicam as well.Materials and build seem very solid.I have a 2 hour mobile shoot in a couple of weeks. I'll add more then.- Update 6.13.15Very happy with this tripod addition. Works really well for run and gun situations. Adds a lot of stability. Many options for use, especially with a bit of MacGyvering.

This is great for doing pans and video work. It adds a new level of smoothness to pans with a monopod. I had to adjust the tension when I first revived it because it had a spot with no resistance. I live in central Florida and our soil is sand after having to disassemble it to clean the sand out of it I try to keep it in clean areas only. Still it is a great product.

The base allows the monopod to move freely in one or two axes. This allows the mono-pod to be rotated freely to pan with the camera without erratic movement. This is not a replacement for a tripod but is an excellent assist in the field for camcorders. I am pleased with my monopod and base combination and keep the camcorder locked in the head while walking or in a blind. It has increased the quality of my videos.

I have an older Manfrotto monopod with just a rubber capped foot. I pulled the foot cap off and installed the base to it without any issues. A perfect fit. The fluid base was set at it's loosest setting. With an allen wrench, I was able to bering the tension up to where it serves me the best. As a photographer/videographer often on the same assignment with the same camera even in the same location at the moment, it is very handy to have the feet there when you need them. I shoot with a D600 with a 24-70 2.8 VR lens. Withe correct tension, this keeps my shots stable, my pans smooth and can double as my interview station in the field.

This is a nice addition that should be in every monopod kit if your monopod just has a nubby end. I dont know if it will work with other monopods, but it fit my Manfrotto nicely and it truly does balance a small camera standing alone.. though I wouldnt walk away from it like a tripod. A little wind or slight jarring of the ground near it may be enough for it to tip over depending on weight of gear on it.

I'm on the fence about this base, i like it, the legs work good and it can balance my camera just fine, but I use it for video, and it is not very fluid in motion. My pan shots will have vibrations and jitters making the clips useless from the ball sticking and catching when being twisted or moved. While i have invested a lot in this monpod I am looking for alternatives as it is not reliably smooth.

I use it with Canon 80D attached Sigma 150-600mm lens, Manfrotto ball head 496cr2 and 679b monopod, smooth panning to shoot video for kids playing and running, shooting birds, stars and moon , the fluid base is well balance and sturdy built, good quality made in Italy, besides, register on line and got 3 years extend warranty at no extra cost.

Great product. Arrived in perfect condition. Unfortunately not a fit for my MPMXPROA3 Monopod. Hence to be returned.
