AC Infinity, AXIAL 1238, Muffin Fan 115V AC

If performance and air flow are what you're looking for, this fan had the highest CFM that I found in this footprint. Unfortunately it was too loud for my application! I used this fan to replace the cheaply made fan that came in my under cabinet mini-fridge. The original fan was a clunky AC motor with a poorly balanced plastic fan pressed onto the motors shaft and it would shift around in it's mounting bracket and start making a HORRIBLE grinding noise as the imbalanced blades would bang up against the metal fan shroud. I had to 3D print a custom bracket to mount it to the frame of the fridge, and it worked PERFECTLY. It was extremely well balanced, and it moved a TON more air than the OE fan did. The only problem was, because it's a high-speed, high-airflow fan, the motor noise was too loud for a mini fridge which often runs for long periods of time in a quiet room. It was so loud that I could hear it from my bedroom while it was running in my quiet kitchen! So I replaced it with another AC infinity with similar specs, except it's the "quiet" model LS1238. This fan is 47 dba, and the quiet version is only 32 dba. It moves a bit less air, but more than enough to cool off the compressor and move air over the radiator, and it's much more quiet! The LS1238 when installed in the back of the fridge, and the fridge is pushed into it's cubby in our island, the sound is similar to that of a laptop that's running warm and who's fans are running at full speed. (You can tell it's running, but not so loud that it's annoying) Whereas the high CFM version was approximately the equivalent to a large computer server, or a welder that's powered on but sitting idle (not actually welding) This is fine for a server or piece of shop equipment, but not for a small refrigerator running in your kitchen all night. I've purchased and used a half dozen AC Infinity fans from their axial/muffin fans, to their 12" inline duct fans, and I LOVE them.. and wouldn't use ANY other brand for a line-voltage fan. (For 12/24 volt DC case fans, I use Noctura) But for anything high voltage, I HIGHLY recommend AC Infinity!

Excellent Rack Fan with Outstanding Speed Control! I purchased this rack fan (with 110V adapter) for my 19U open-frame server rack, and it has exceeded all my expectations. What truly sets it apart is the fantastic speed control switch — Off, Low, Medium, and High. Being able to completely turn it off when I need to clean or work inside the open rack is incredibly convenient. On Medium speed, it already delivers excellent airflow and keeps my equipment running at very comfortable temperatures. If you don’t mind the noise, High speed really moves a lot of air. For those keeping the rack in a bedroom or quieter space, Medium is perfect and sufficiently effective. I actually bought two units: one mounted at the top for exhaust and another placed inside the rack. Living in Guayaquil, where the heat and humidity are brutal, this setup has made a huge difference. My networking and server equipment now stay at optimal temperatures even during the hottest days. The speed control feature is magnificent and makes this fan far more versatile than standard rack fans. Highly recommended if you’re looking for reliable cooling with real control!

11-2022 update— I’ve used various models of AC infinity fans for cooling audio systems and video streaming cubes and even to vent a greenhouse. Most recently I’m using a 120v fan to cool a 1000 watt gro light ballast. I have some that have been running constantly for over 5 years exposed to the elements! None have yet failed!———————— Original review These are high speed high output fans and make more noise than one designed for cooling a home theater amp. These fans have run non stop outside on my dogs potty room since April of 2018 and cooling my digital ballast for a year. It’s now Oct. 2020 & both are still going strong . It’s run thru summer heat and dead of winter cold.The fan cooling the ballast is on a timer to only run when the gro lights are on.I also have a pair of ac infinity 5v usb fans on my home theater sound system & on my heavily used router, those also have run nonstop quietly over for two years. —- original review—- I was surprised by the big output of this little fan. At 110 cfm it’s comparable to many bathroom exhaust fans. The frame is sturdy cast aluminum. The highly pitched blades are shatter resistant plastic. The power cord attaches very secure & seems unlikely to come loose. I installed this fan to vent a 6x8 building and it’s doing the job perfectly running 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It’s been on that schedule for two years & still performs like new. Smooth & quiet. Overall I’m more than pleased with the performance and quality of this product not to mention the value.

I installed this in my entertainment center for airflow. I have my PS4 , Xbox, Switch, Cable box, and Amazon fire TV. With the front glass panels closed the PS4 and Xbox got quite hot and would over heat. To solve that I had to constantly leave my front panel doors open for airflow. Once one of my kids ran into it nearly shattering the glass, I new I needed a solution. I bought this to install in the back as an exhaust to offer more airflow. Well, long story short is that it works. I MEAN IT FREAKIN WORKS. The fan is quite loud for its size and I think it's much more beefy than I needed it to be. I usually play games rather loud or I have headphones on, so it's not much of an issue. I think I'll take this and put it in my workshop for an exhaust fan and get a 140mm PC fan for the entertainment console. But still, if you want an exhaust fan that is compact but puts out a lot of power, THIS GUY DOES THE TRICK.

I slapped this bad boy in a HF amplifier to keep to tubes cool, barely fit and it's kinda loud but I like it. Pushes plenty of air and the massive RF doesn't bother it at all. 10/10

Dig these 1238s a lot! Solid price, robust aluminum frame, mounting hardware, grill guards and power cord. I upgraded to a dual fan setup with speed control for a project when I thought one was enough, and that’s what I like about these too, very easy to upgrade and configure. I didn’t have to clip strip and heat shrink anything. They run so quiet and worked right out the box. I have other products of theirs and all just feel so premium. I feel like I need to make up projects so I had an excuse to get more to use haha. These fans at this price help so much for low budget diy projects. Listing the specs and everything also very helpful, will suggest to anyone in need of a fan for their project. I’m truly a fan… of these fans… 😅

Puts out good air flow for the size!

I am using three of these as an emergency heat dump for my entertainment center cabinet. The cabinet has three 120mm low-speed (very quiet) fans controlled by an accurate NZXT computer fan-speed controller. It does a great job of cooling the cabinet at the slowest (quietest) fan speeds, but being electronic, has the potential for failure. And did, once. If that happens and the cabinet goes over a safe temperature, a very simple mechanical thermostat turns these fans on. Pros: Very solid, high quality cast aluminum construction, with very good bearings, well balanced, vibration-free. Moves a very large amount of air for its size. Well worth the money. Cons: The connector system is UNSATISFACTORY. The fan has a pair of solder tabs, about 20 thousands of an inch thick and about 1/8" wide. They are very soft and bend easily. They clearly were not intended for use with a removable connector. The connector on the supplied cord set depends on friction to hold it on the tabs; similar connectors on the cheapest computer fans have a simple latch to prevent accidental disconnection. During testing, one of my HS1238A fans stopped because the connector had come loose. It was the first of these I bought. and I had attached and disconnected the cord about three times. The contacts are evidently too soft to tolerate this. Since this fan hopefully will NEVER turn on--it's only powered up if the quiet cooling system fails--a single-fan emergency system would be useless, and I'd never know it! Comment: Very noisy--but it's not mechanical noise, it's high-speed airflow. That's why you buy this thing! It is FAR too noisy for use while enjoying a movie or classical music. But it's great as an emergency backup. Unless the connector fails. I removed all the fans and permanently soldered the line cords to them. That changed a 1-star rating to a 5-star rating. But since It is unreliable as delivered, and it was difficult to solder to the small tabs, I must rate it much lower. I have done a lot of electronic construction, so when I say difficult, I do mean difficult. The tabs are relatively short and in a recess. They have a 1/16" hole that is a tight fit on an 18-AWG stranded line cord conductor. I had to tin the strands together and run a 1/16" drill bit through the hole by hand to get it to stay in place for soldering. Fortunately I had a good soldering iron and an assortment of insulating shrink tubing on hand. If you buy this kit and don't want to cut the cord and solder it, meaning you are not a masochist, I recommend strongly that you attach the line cord ONCE ONLY and cover the connector with a nice gob of silicone sealer to prevent it from coming loose. I installed 3 fans to protect each equipment shelf independently. I had intended to use just one for the entire cabinet--the fan that failed! Now I'd say that just because of the connector problem, I would use at least two of these in any installation that protects valuable property.

今回は農業用ハウス内で使用する可搬型ダウントランスの冷却用ケースように購入しました。 まず、良好な点は『圧倒的風流』『AC電源で即稼働可能』、悪い点は『騒音』と『重い』です。しかし、悪い点に目をつぶれるほど『風流が強く』、総合的にコストパフォーマンスが高い製品です。 性能面:AC100～120vでダイレクトに作動するため、同サイズクラスのUSBファンより風流が別次元で高いが、その為ファンの騒音は大きいです。また本体の重量もありますが、構造は頑丈なので私は気にしません。AC100～120vでサクッと使える点も良いです。通常使用していないダウントランスの昇圧115vに差して使用していますのでAC100vのコンセントが空けておけます。(一般的な200v→100vダウントランスは大体115v✕2、100v✕2の出力が付いている)付属の電源コードはオンオフスイッチはありませんが、プラグ形状が接地側(W側)通常より縦に長く、接地、非接地同サイズのコンセントには刺さりません。極性がしっかり分かって使用出来るメリットと不便なデメリットでもありますが、昨今のAC2Pコンセントは接地側(W側)が大きいのが標準なので、使用法次第で不便な要素にはならないでしょう。 付属品等:ファン本体以外の付属品は、ACプラグコード(約80cm)✕１、ファンガード✕２、M4長ネジ✕４、M4ナット✕４、取扱説明書で、最低限必要な物は一式揃っており、そのまま組んでサクッと使用出来ます。輸送用の箱はシンプルでしたが緩衝用発泡材でキレイに仕切られており、品質が良い印象を受けました。 余談(耐久性等):カタログスペックでは耐久性が60000時間とされていますが、これだけは使用を継続していってみないと感想は出ませんね。約６年問題なく稼働しきったなら、費用対効果は十分という答えがでるでしょう。まあ、ある意味『軽快な稼働音』がするので、音がしなかったら「あれ？何かあったか？」と異常兆候が把握しやすいかも知れません。ダウントランスをオンに連動して冷却ケースのファンが起動するのはなかなか小気味良いです。私的にはDIY冥利に尽きます。 総合的な評価は星５です。風切り音はあるにしても性能に対するコストパフォーマンスが良いです。今後も問題点が無ければ、このブランドの製品は注目できますね… ※追記。使い勝手が良く工作もしやすいので、同製品をもう一つ購入しました。満足…(^-^)/

An excellent exhaust fan; compact and robust. Most importantly, it pulls the smoke out through my bedroom window quickly and effectively. Only downside is a mildly annoying noise, but this is more than offset by the high CFM and RPM the motor generates. Recommended.

El abanico viene bien empacado y completo con todo lo que ocupa para trabajar. Es del tamaño indicado y se instaló sin problemas. Trabaja bien, es muy silencioso y mueve MUCHO aire. Si me pudiera quejar de algo, es que es más poderoso de lo que esperaba y "sopla" más aire del que necesito, probablemente pude haber comprado un par de medidas más chico. (Pero esto es bueno, y no es culpa del fabricante, sino todo lo contrario). Excelente producto
