Best Litter Box EVER
I love this litter box. I bought it in February because my husband (who normally has litter duty) was going to be out of town for awhile. I have a serious problem cleaning the litter box because it just activates my gag reflex. Having found myself in a position where I now had to clean the litter box myself, I started to research litter boxes. I settled on this one because it was relatively inexpensive so I wouldn't be out a whole lot if it didn't work. When it arrived, I read the instructions and put it together. It did take me a few tries to get all of the clasps to fit together properly. I found the plastic to be of the same quality as any other litter box. We use the corn litter so I filled the box with that and just set it in the place that the old litter box was. I figured they would have to use it.Well, they did-no problems at all. I bought the large size and the litter area is not very large. I would not recommend the smaller size. However, I have two cats and they had no problems using it at all. My larger cat is 15lbs. No accidents. My larger cat used to leave a deposit outside the old litter box once in awhile and that has stopped.I can easily clean this litter box. I just take a plastic bag downstairs, roll the litter box, pull out the tray and dump it directly in the bag. I then close the bag and take it out to the garbage. No odor! No gag reflex! This litter box saved me because I have no idea how I would have managed to clean up after them in a traditional litter box!I have had this box for 5 months and we do occasionally have litter in the refuse pan. However, from what we can tell, it occurs when we overfill the box. I have occasionally also had litter stuck to the bottom of the box. I usually reach in with my scoop and give the bottom a little scrape before rolling it. I've only felt resistance indicating something is stuck on the bottom 3 times now.So, while some may not find it to be perfect, it is inexpensive and it works well enough that both of my cats use it. It also allows me to be able to clean a litter box without becoming ill! I love this box so much that I am buying another one for another area of the house!

A great product with a bit of a learning curve
I absolutely hated this litter box until I loved it. I attribute this to several things, including an unwillingness to peer inside its cavernous hole and an aversion to reading directions. Litter type is very important in the use of this box. I am now using World’s Best Cat Litter, and I can confirm, relative to other brands I have tried, it is the best, both in terms of clumping and odor suppression.I am not entirely sure why I had such difficulties using this box initially. I was making quite a mess and was extremely frustrated after my first few attempts of using it. I cried when dirty litter spewed out all over the floor after I turned the box upside down and couldn’t believe I had been dumb enough to try such a thing. I went back to the reviews and couldn’t understand all the strong ratings. I delighted in my fellow consumers’ mishaps who rated it one star and pumped my fist in the air in joyous solidarity with the reviewer who suggested all the 5-star reviews had been planted and that this box was indeed a lying piece of junk. Then for some reason, a few weeks after I had been scooping a regular box old-school style and killing my back like I was panning for gold, I decided to give the "self-cleaner" another try. After all, the helpful video reviewer left visual proof of this product’s efficiency and ease.First, don’t kid yourself, this box does not belong in the dining room. Or the kitchen. It belongs in a bathroom or utility room or best of all a basement. And I would say this is just true of any litter box. So that was my first mistake – thinking I could keep it near the kitchen. Gross.Next – the clips are extremely important. You must diligently check them every single time you roll this thing over. Just a hair out of line and you will be sorry. Most importantly: DO NOT OVERFILL THIS BOX WITH LITTER. Ultimately, I think this is where I went wrong. All advice, from the litter, the box, the vet etc. told me to fill it with 3 inches of litter. That is totally ridiculous. That is what caused my clips to give way and spill litter on the floor. That is a totally unmanageable amount of litter to be throwing around. If you are cleaning your box every day or every other day, your cats do not need this much litter to move around in.Fill the box with maybe an inch and a half, or possibly two, of litter (just on the side that is accessible to the cat. Make sure the lid is truly aligned to the bottom pan. Close the clips tightly. When ready to clean, SLOWLY, for God sake’s SLOWLY, roll your pan to the right, allowing the clean litter to slide through the grating and the solid waste to pop over into the drawer. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of doing this slowly. Not only will litter not go all over your floor, but you will lose less clean litter to the drawer.Do not return the box to its upright position yet. At this point in the process you must LOOK INSIDE THE BOX. It will be mostly empty, as the clean litter is now hidden behind the grate. There will be 1-3 large clumps of wet litter stuck to the bottom of the box. I don’t know why. Simply use a regular scoop to pop these up and throw them into the trash. They should slide right up like disgusting cookies. I store my scoop in a pretty bin I got from the dollar store. NOW roll the box to the left, and let all the clean litter fall back into the main part of the box. Give it a little shake to even the litter out. Empty the drawer of its contents. And in less than five minutes you have cleaned your box. It’s that simple and wonderful. I do it every day. When this box needs replacing, I will buy another.
