This stuff is amazing!
Works great as a grain filler. Take a small amount and add a tablespoon of warm water to get a smooth creamy consistency. Then rub it over the wood pushing it into the grain, and squeegee off the excess. Once it's dry you can sand and the grain is filled and you have a smooth, non-porous surface for painting.

-) Can't believe anything this good is this easy to use
Yep, I read reviews for wood filler too :-) Can't believe anything this good is this easy to use. Perfect straight out of the jar as wood filler, but I mainly use as a pore filler before final finishing my hand-built guitar necks, where feel and finish have to be top-notch. It's water-based and less than a 2-1 ratio gets you there, so use it forever. Goes on like mayo (which is to say easy), super-hard when dry, scrapes and sands uniformly and takes most any topcoat finish beautifully - I've used poly and Tru Oil. Dries lighter, so allow for that when color-matching. The mahogany dries shocking pink - which came as... a shock - but a topcoat warms it up to a gorgeous golden-reddish hue (just like mahogany :-) Only issue can be trying to stain it - but good luck with that on any wood filler.

Smells pretty bad
Has an odd odor, I heard one person say bandaids, but after sanding it back, the smell really doesn't go away until you use some kind of finish, stain won't do it, but it helps, so plan on using some finish for sure.I have a lifetime supply of it now, it goes a long ways and I used it on some wood that needed a lot of it.Started out red, but took the dye I used to stain it and just made that color only darker, so it isn't like it is going to stay the same color, but the effect is very nice, a few coats of Tru Oil on top of the yellow to orange to red to D brown to black is exactly what I wanted.

Works, but stinky and shrinks
This Timbermate filler works about the same as any other wood filler I've used. It shrank a little in a couple of spots (which unfortunately weren't apparent until after I applied my finish) and has a very strong and distinct odor.On the whole, it's a decent filler and is very easy to work with if you don't mind the smell.

Great product for that great finishing touch
I have worked with Mahogany for years and only recently started using woodgrain filler it makes a big difference when finishing a project. I typically only use boiled linseed oil for my finish and this prepares the surface wonderfully to accept that simple oil rub finish makes it much smoother very easy to use you can smear it all around with your fingers, or use a plastic scraper to press it down into the grain, then sand it into a pile get it wet and use it again.Only Con is this stuff stinks, use only in a well ventilated work area

WOW, WHO KNEW?!! Great grain filler, etc
If you have furniture with lots of open grain, or a pain issue and use something like General Finishes that does NOT required complete sanding and a primer, then it is just fill the grain, then pain. AND, after you sand, brush it up and put it back in the jar to reconstitute. It reminds me of clay (former potter) but there is no shrinkage ever. Dries VERY hard like clay. I LOVE that you can reused the sanded bits! SUPERIOR grain filler, hole filler, knot filler.

This stuff is awesome!
This product is unique. It's water soluble. You can use it full strength or dilute it. It fills cracks and wood surfaces. It dries hard. It's sandable. It takes paint (disregard review that says it doesn't). Yes it has an odd odor. Use in a well ventilated space as with any other chemicals. Standard wood filler from the big box store can't compare.

works great
This stuff works great. I got it for a grain sealer on Mahogany veneered plywood and it works very well. When thinned down with warm water to a slurry it filled the grain and left the plywood smooth and looking like very fine grained mahogany. After the remainder dried out I scraped it out of the container I mixed it in and was able to use it again.
