Insightful & invaluable - Buff provides readers with powerful, new tools to enhance their odds of investing success
Let me begin by providing a little history on my background, so you know from what angle I'm viewing this book and can make your own judgements.I am a CFP® professional, a member of the MTA (Market Technician's Association) & have my own RIA(Registered Investment Advisory) firm, where I provide financial planning for clients on a fiduciary basis, as well as manage their investments. When it comes to managing my client's investments, most of my personal efforts are focused on stock market & alternative investing strategies, while I use other managers for the fixed income portion. In the prior phase of my career, before founding my RIA & working with clients, I spent 7 years in trading -- in a range of experiences from energy commodity trading floors, to equity trading floors (stocks, futures, options), to day trading my own account for 3 years. So, the point is that I am not new to technical analysis but, rather to the contrary, have been an eager & enthralled student for almost 15 years now.At this point my technical analysis & trading library is pretty expansive, but after attending an MTA webinar that featured Buff's work, I was excited to read Investing with Volume Analysis....and, once it arrived, I wasn't disappointed. Investing with Volume Analysis is the first book I've read cover-to-cover in 1 day, in at least 10 years. I found it to be an easy read and very, very insightful. As a person whose trading/investing teeth were cut on reading IBD(Investors Business Daily) every day for 2-3 years, I am a big believer in analyzing volume as a key component of trading/investing, but feel like most volume tools are not pointedly indicative enough for effective use.Buff's volume tools -- which he invented and are all outlined in this book -- are the first that I feel I can trust to enhance my investing & trading profitability on a consistent basis, and I have already begun to incorporate them into my strategies. The vast majority of technical indicators are based on price data, and garner the lion's share of attention, but a stock's price cannot move significantly(either up or down) without volume's influence. The problem is that most investors do not understand the significance of volume's role in the price trend of a stock....so here it is:Volume is THE most direct measure of supply & demand, and supply/demand is what makes a stock move -- period. Thus, one could argue that volume analysis is the most vital indicator in your technical analysis tool-box, and, unequivocally, it will do nothing but greatly enhance your investing profitability. So, in the end, no matter what type of investor you are...beginner, novice, experienced, long-term or short-term...do yourself a favor and read this book. It will forever change your approach to investing for the better.

Three dimensional investing
Excellent book, and excellent perspective, especially his thoughts on how fundamentals and price/volume complement each other. My own view is that investing is three dimensional - , fundamentals, trend, and price/volume buy and sell points. Using only one of these in isolation does not give one the total clarity needed, as opposed to using all three of these investment dimensions as mutual interwoven and supportive. For example using fundamentals only as a buy reason in a down trending market would not be the best action. Or buying a fundamentally weak stock, using only the price/volume indicator, does not lead to a good result. The best outcome is a good fundamental stock, bought in an uptrend, at a good price/volume buy point. Off a support point on high positive volume, for example. My only disagreement is he looks at price/volume as a technical signal instead of standing on its own footing. For the most part technical signals, MACD, Sto, moving average crossing are all after the fact. But price/volume and how it reacts at key support and resistance points helps determines or validates the immediate buy/sell action.

The SUPERLATIVE MASTER OF VOLUME ANALYSIS
After appx 10 of 22 chapters (not in order) It's glaringly OBVIOUSMr. Dormeier didn't disappoint my expectations! His 5 page preview in TAS&C was fascinating and his depth of research,as confirmed by comments of the Masters of Technical Analysis confirmthat Buff Dormeier has gone where no one else has before, in Volume Analysis. This book exceeds all the others, in every way possible. Even Murphy, Leibovit,Greenblatt, Morris, Williams, Arms, McClellan and Granville. (All superlative expertsat tracking the actions inside the markets!)This is possibly better than the unshared esoteric information used byother masters like O'Neil, Soros and super successful masters of trading.Considering the excellent history lessons in the first 2-3 chapters, you'llfind important tombs of knowledge missing in your education you may need to fill,in order to be on the same page as Buff. He's definitely done his homework!Buff say's he's done a lot of research and it's obvious! Don't miss this book, you'll definitely regret it, his insights alone are worth the price, theeffectiveness of his shared insights are the icing on the cake. This book is a rare gift among the thousands of books on the market. I've beenchasing volume analysis for two plus years and this book has answered every questionthat my favorite teachers avoided discussing. This book is a 10 of 10!
