I love that they use the flat floss thread, which is SO much better for marking queens through versus the thick plastic grid... HOWEVER, I normally put down the cage after marking to allow the Q to dry before re-introducing her to the colony. Watching a perfectly fat mated queen crawl out and fly away was NOT what I anticipated. Shame on me, as I DID notice the gaps were further apart then my older ones. I always check to make sure the spacing of the floss is perpendicular and parallel to each other, as the floss can shift and cause too-large of gaps. Didn't occur to me that there was danger of the manufacturer not knowing standard Queen excluder size. I might still use it, but only if I am going to directly insert her into a Q cage for sale, letting her thorax dry in there INSTEAD of the marking cage.
