Finally, A Good Wireless Doorbell
de overseas and was chI think I have finally found my last wireless doorbell. My search began a year ago when my wired doorbell stopped working and I decided to go with a wireless model so that I could have a bell in the upstairs and one downstairs. My first purchase was one of those cheap, foreign-made door bells ( Wireless Doorbell, [Improved Version] AVANTEK DT22 Portable Door Bell Kit, 52 Chime Tones, 1000 ft / 300 m Range [1 Push Button, 1 Plug-In Door Chime & 1 Battery Powered Door Chime ]), which worked for about 9 months. The upstairs, battery operated unit stopped working. The doorbell looked flimsy as well. So I bought a domestic Zenith-Heath wireless doorbell at a local Home store for $50.00 only to find it was also maeap. The doorbell itself would only work 40% of the time, either because the battery connection was loose or it needed to re-charge after rings. At any rate just pushing the doorbell seemed to dislodge the battery from it's cheap connection. Junk, junk, junk. Enter this rather nice, but inexpensive unit that has two advantages. 1) the doorbell unit doesn't have a mechanical button - it's touch sensitive. Go figure. And it has a little blue light that comes on to tell the visiter that they did indeed activate the doorbell. Plus the battery compartment is more solid. 2) Both ringer units are plug-in, not battery operated. Nice. No need to ever replace batteries except the doorbell unit. And the ringer units are also activated by touch to change ringer volume and ringer type. Personally, I hate all of the choices of ringtones. Fortunately, the default tone is OK. There doesn't seem to be much range in volume. Just medium load or loud, but that's OK. I like that the doorbell will activate both ringers on each floor. Hey, not buttons to wear out or fail over time. What more could you want in a wireless doorbell? And best of all, this set looks nice (not cheaply made) and is inexpensive. Highly recommended. Yes, it's all plastic, but looks better than all of the other junk out there.12/27/15 - Update. I'm downgrading my review to 4 stars. Sometimes when the doorbell is pressed, it will get stuck and ring the doorbell continuously until you touch it again. Also, if my wife or dogs move fast down the hallway, the static charge sometimes triggers the doorbell ringer plugged into the socket in the hallway. Or something does, even when no one rings the doorbell. I finally had to change this out for a RING doorbell, which I love - Ring Wi-Fi Enabled Video Doorbell .

5 minutes from unboxing to complete set up! Fantastic!
It took me longer to take this out of the packaging than it did to set it up and get it working. This is impressive in so many ways:- Truly ready to use right out of the box. Pull tab that protects the battery in the sensor, plug in both receivers and it's ready to go. The button batteries it takes are inexpensive, although I do not have a history yet with this to attest to its longevity.- The double sided adhesive mounting tape that's included, is strong and perfectly cut to size. Mounting with small (not included) nails or screws, is possible, but you have to pry open the doorbell, carefully remove the soundboard, then punch out the marked holes. I didn't want to take the chance of cracking the housing or damaging the soundboard, so I used the mounting tape.- Transmission distance is strong and good. Doorbell is on the ground floor, one receiver on second floor, and the other is on the third floor. Both receivers actually even ring in sync with each other!- I love the clean lines, slimline and low profile shape, and lack of obvious logos and markings. No logo on the doorbell. It's clean and plain white. The receivers have subtle light grey Romeh branding, and a small illuminated green indicator light to show power and pairing. My husband simply put the teeniest piece of Teflon tape over the indicator light and now all we see is a slight green glow.- Both receivers allow 3 volume settings. The loudest is plenty of volume for an entire semi-open floor plan of approx 900 sq ft.- The very first ring tone is the traditional ding-dong. Call me boring, but I like this basic tone, so to have it as the first and therefore default tone, is handy in case of power interruptions. If you select any of the other tones, if you move the receiver to another location, or have an interruption in power, you'll have to scroll thru and reselect the tone of your choice again.- Bonus to using wireless doorbells, is that I was able to take down our old wall mounted door bell, patch the drywall, and have one less thing on the wall.- The only semi-negative thing about the doorbell, is that is is so clean, unbranded and simple looking, that it's easily overlooked. I thought it would be cleaner looking to mount it on the white trim around our door, instead of on our house siding which is green. Problem is, that some people either can't see that this is a doorbell button, or miss seeing it completely. There is no illumination until it is touched. I thought about moving it, then decided to leave it where it is, and I hung a small, brass "no soliciting" strip right above it. That seems to draw people's eye to the area an allow them to notice the bell.I honestly haven't been happier with a purchase like this in a long time.

I liked that about it but it goes down hill from ...
The overall simplicity of this doorbell made it appealing - just plug in and go. I liked that about it but it goes down hill from there. The biggest issue I had was that it would randomly chime. At first I thought maybe it was the sun reflecting on it but when it went off at 4:00 in the morning that proved that theory to be incorrect. The first chime stopped working at about the 6 month mark, but was no big deal I still had one more but as luck would have it the other chime went out about 45 days later (yes I check the battery in the button). So, once again I am out of a doorbell! Considering the price was relatively low I think I got "what I paid for".
