Combine with this book with some actual off-road recovery classes and you'll be better prepared than 95% of the off-road population. Excellent information presented in a manner that is very digestible, as well as, being able to read/review chapters in an "as needed" fashion.I have copied sections and keep them in my 4Runner along with all the typical recovery equipment one should have when venturing off pavement.And finally, the price of an off-road vehicle recovery far exceeds the cost of this excellent resource. Do your homework and you'll more confidently enjoy your outdoor experience.

I really loved the wisdom found in these pages. This really arms an individual to help get them out of sticky situations. Winching, tow ropes, pulleys, they are all explained in detail by someone who has done or seen it all.The people who would own this book are the types that come along and save your day. They are well prepared, and know just what to do to haul out a stuck vehicle.

Lots of great info in this book for getting un stuck. I think it is as import as any winch accessory or other recovery item. I found a clear, dry bag type cover and added it to my gear bag.

The discription lisst a bunch of topics they claim this book teaches, in reality there's just a brief summary of the topics that reference you to the authors others book if you want to learn the details...As an example you'll get more information on proper winching technique from the owners manual that came with your winch than you'll get out of this book.

A ton of knowledge in this book - more than I'll ever have the chance to use. Definitely recommended for people interested in getting off pavement.
