Controller works as intended, but did not come with orignal box??? (Misleading Description)
First off, I want to say that the controller I purchased works 100% as expected, much appreciated! Secondly, the product page that I purchased from mentioned "never removed from box", which lead me to believe that the controller would come with the original box that it came with when sold in the 1980s. It unfortunately did not. I suppose the description didn't explicitly say "comes with original box", it just said that it was never removed from "box", whatever box that is. But the product page only showed multiple pictures of the "original box", which also lead me to believe that's what I was getting. That is very misleading, and I'm disappointed that I didn't get what I assumed I was purchasing. Most controllers sell for around $30 to $35, so I paid quite a bit more than average assuming it would come with the original box. But I believe that may be because the product page on amazon is used for multiple sellers, and not all sellers are going to provide the original box. It seems some do include the original box, and they will disclose that in their "product condition" spot. So I think Amazon should change the "global product page" to be more honest about what everyone SHOULD be getting. This includes the product images and description. When you make the purchase, all you are getting is the controller, nothing else. Unless the specific seller says otherwise. The description should say: "Original Nintendo Advantage Joystick controller manufactured in the 1980's and 1990's. May be in used condition, or in new (still in original box) condition. Not guaranteed to come with original box (see specific seller for exact product information)." If I knew I wasn't going to get the original box, I would've purchased it someplace else. Buyers beware.

The best retro controller and still going strong!
You know that giddy feeling you get when you get something that you wish you had as a kid? And it arrives in mint condition decades later? That's sort of how I feel about the NES Advantage. I was bored and looking for some interesting retro parts and found this for sale from a seller. It was something I just had to have. And I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the package up. The outside of the original box was a little faded due to the age. But, after sliding out the styrofoam packaging and removing its lid I was overcome by that classic "new part" aroma. This was certainly not a used controller by any stretch of the imagination. It was a brand new circa 1987 NES Advantage stick which I received in 2010! They don't make controllers like this anymore. It's just a very solid controller with the right feel. Nothing felt loose or out of place. And how many controllers can boast having an underside made of metal? This controller is simply built to last and certainly puts all knockoffs to shame. And not only does it work great with my old NES but by using a USB-to-NES adapter cable it works great as a controller for my computers. The stick works quite well with FCEUX and MAME. There's even something nice to be said about having adjustable rapid fire buttons that you toggle on and off and literally dial in for the right spray of shots. The "slow motion" mode is a little hokey, though. It simply simulates it by rapidly toggling the "start" button used for pausing. And the idea of having two cables to run to each port of the NES for the sake of allowing one NES Advantage to be shared between two players sounded like a good idea. But the NES Advantage works fine just using one cable. Those are very minor flaws. This controller is well-made and is a worthy addition to any game room system (console or arcade) or even your desktop.

Did Not Work
I purchased this a couple years ago. Unfortunately I was not able to try it out until recently. Kept it in the box. It did not work. It was very dirty. (Not my dirt). I purchased another from a different vendor and it was clean and works! So it must be hit and miss if you get a working controller.

... of age starting to show but it works just fine. And it is not as if I have ...
Minor signs of age starting to show but it works just fine. And it is not as if I have not broken down one of these before and fixed it when the buttons wore out. I've owned 3 of these in my life not counting this one and I have repaired 2 of them when the button rubber wore out. I still have parts from all 3 so if the buttons or other easy to replace parts go bad I can fix this one too. Now I can't fix microchip or circuit board problems but your basic swap of worn out hardware No problem. If you know what you are doing or have any mech inclination

Best Joystick/Controller in the World?
I had one of these when I was a kid in the 1980s; well, it was my brother's, but I still got to use it fairly often. I must say, I appreciate it today much more than I did back then. This joystick eliminates the thumb fatigue you get from standard NES pads completely. Using your index and middle fingers, you can easily alternate between the two buttons. I remember having a problem with these buttons sticking when I was a child but I find that as an adult, it's easier to use this controller than it was back then--just keep your fingers centered on the buttons and you'll never have a problem with the buttons sticking (as they seem to stick when they are pressed around the edges). Also, considering the age of my used NES Advantage, I'm impressed that it still works perfectly! (this is good because it seems like it would be difficult to open and clean if it should ever need be) The only problem I have had with this is when the stick got too dry one time and it started "squeaking" during use. So I just sprayed some oil in there (WD40 works great) and it's like brand new! I would recommend this joystick to anyone, but especially to people who may have complaints about thumb fatigue or wrist-pains from the standard pads. This joystick provides hours of fun, easily, and it is built like a freakin' tank--so you know it's going to last a long time. Well worth the price.

great accessory for your NES must have for collectors. joystick moves very smoothly and buttons are nice and big. only problem is that the slo-mo rather than slowing the game down, it pauses and unpauses as fast as the game will let you, so for games that take a while to pause or unpause then it doesn't really work.

The reason I’m giving it a two star is because first the joystick didn’t come in a box plus the joystick ball was broken and I had to buy a new one
