Affordable, Damascus Knife? You Bet.
Massive Damascus bowie for only $70? I like knives and wanted something massive so I thought, why don't I give this one a shot?Knife arrives and on first glance it's gorgeous and an absolute monster, dwarfs my old 12" KA-BAR.To my autism enhanced, extremely detail oriented eyes, the ladder pattern in the Damascus is unique and differs greatly from the photos. Not really seeing any signs of laser etching either, as the edge bevel clearly shows the layering. It legitimately looks like a piece of Damascus. As for the quality of the Damascus itself, I'd need to break the knife to see and that's not something I'm really comfortable doing.Seems decently well made, but definitely not as nice as the piece in the example pics. Bit of a gap between the guard and the handle when viewed from the side, but it's closed when viewed from either the edge or spine. Small enough to not notice. A little bit of epoxy overflow is also visible between the handle and the guard, and the handle itself looks to be held in place by either a peened or threaded pommel. So good, they didn't just epoxy it in place. One side of the blade looks to have been ground down too much after the etch. For those who don't know, Damascus must be etched with ferric chloride acid to reveal the pattern. The more resistant metal forms high spots which are then polished by hand for contrast. I'm guessing they likely did the polishing step by machine. It's a relatively cheap knife so I decide to experiment on it a bit and see if I can bring out the pattern more. Cold bluing solution coloured the steel evenly, scrubbed off fairly easily as well since I didn't let it sit for too long. Watching Alec Steele I learned you can etch Damascus further with instant coffee to darken the pattern, decided to give it a shot and to my surprise it actually worked. Brought out the pattern in both the spine and edge, confirming to me that it is in fact real Damascus.Sheath is meh. Leather seems okay but the snap button on mine wasn't installed properly, so it broke and is now glued in place and holding well. The button also has what's supposed to be the seal of Oklahoma on it, which instead to me looks like it reads "GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF ON LAHOMA."Overall it's a decent knife and so far I'm happy with it, but I'd prefer they used a regular high carbon steel and put the cost of the Damascus towards overall build quality.$70 isn't too much when it comes to knives but it can still get some really nice blades, for that much a bowie made with some 1060 carbon steel could outclass this one in build quality and finish.

Decent knife for the price
Nice looking knife! Blade does have a bit of a warp to it! Most of the blade is sharp but slightly dull towards the tip!!

Not real Damascus Steel
It looks like it is just a laser etched Damascus pattern on the blade as the one I received had some of the Damascus pattern worn off near the hilt. Wooden hilt was also nowhere near as nice as the one in the photo. Only gave it a 2nd star due to the fact it was a very nice size/weight and felt good in the hand. Returned for refund.
