Review: Excellent vocabulary builder - I'm writing this review as a heritage Polish learner who has already completed the Pimsleur Polish course (~500 words) and the Duolingo Polish course (~2,200 words). I grew up listening to my family speaking Polish. I can read children's books, on the level of Dog Man (Dav Pilky's series). I'm bullet journaling in Polish. My phone is in Polish. I can watch Polish TV shows and get the gist of what they are saying without the subtitles. I can listen to music and audiobooks and kind of guess what they are saying. Even though I've already had a fair amount of exposure to Polish, I still feel like I'm a beginner. When I pick up a children's novel in Polish, I only know about 50% of the words in a given sentence. I can say basic things, but not with any eloquence. My grammar is okay. My listening comprehension is okay. The bottleneck for me is that my vocabulary is just too small. I don't think I'm at the level yet of doing audio-assisted reading with a book like Harry Potter, or The Little Prince, or Twilight, or Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children...let alone a Polish original like Awantura o Basia, or The Witcher books. This frequency dictionary is the perfect next step for me! I'm highlighting all the words I didn't know yet, or which I didn't know strongly enough. (I'm skipping the words I already know.) I love that this book is organized by frequency, that it has the definition, and that it has sample sentences in both English and Polish. This is exactly the study aid I needed! After spending a couple days practicing this new vocab with Anki, I was convinced enough to buy the rest of the series. I plan on spending the next couple years slowly cranking through this series, in addition to my immersion. This doesn't replace immersion, but is definitely helping me get more out of my immersion. I'm currently adding all of this wonderful new vocab into Anki. I'm using Google Translate to help me with the pronounciation as I create written/audio flash cards. Excellent vocabulary builder

I have books 1, 2, and 3. Good to supplement other learning tools. Great for increasing vocabulary with words that are frequently used.

Impeoved listening comprehension
This book took me from A0 to A2 FAST. I’ve tried many different language learning methods. Studying from this book is the best. Highly recommend.

Know common words
Examples of the use of common words is very helpful

Not a book for beginners or those with a bit of knowledge.
The sample sentences use a LOT of vocabulary not included in the 2500 basic words. Many of the sentences are too long and complicated and use unfamiliar noun declensions which a beginner would not be familiar with. According to the book, they developed this list from an “analysis of Polish subtitles”. Given the title and description of the book when I bought it, I expected a lot of repetition of the 2500 words in fairly easy sentences. Not so. I have a good basic knowledge of Polish and do not find this book helpful. If you are in any category of beginner, this book should be avoided.

Very good
This book is fantastic. The design is very good and clear. Each word comes with a translation, a sentence and for verbs there is also information regarding the perfective/imperfective form. This shows that the book is not just "a list" that has been copy-pasted into a dozen diferent languages, but that someone thought about what information a Polish lerner will need in addtion to the words itself. I also like that the book does not only include the list of the 2500 most frequent polish words, but it also includes lists of just the most frequent verbs, adjectives, numerals, pronouns, etc. This makes learning very easy. I obviously can’t assess the “quality” of the frequency list (I understand that accuracy with lists like this vary depending on the input), but I’ve been to Poland recently and can confirm that I frequently encountered many of the words listed in this book. It also felt like I already knew the most frequent words on signs, billboards, newspapers, etc, so the frequency list is definitely very close to accurate. I’m glad I bought this book and I really feel like it helps me a lot with making progress learning Polish.

Poor print edition formatting diminishes the experience
The research behind seems to be solid, and I trust the other reviewers when they say that the quality of the content is good, but I must say that the quality of the publishing in the paper version is abysmal. Was this created from a word file?! No paragraph spacing, no spacing under headers, ugly system fonts—headers and examples get broken across pages. This looks like a self-published book; the editing is totally amateur. I urge the author to get it reviewed by a professional publisher; a few hours of work would suffice. I also find it inappropriate to keep vulgarities out of the vocabulary list. They are part of the language, and there is not reason to leave them out. I actually want to know them all. This is justified as "to keep this book appropriate for readers of all ages"… oh come on!
