Such a good option to not have to take pre-distilled water out to last you for the day! I read a few reviews to make sure I got it right, saw some bad reviews which I think now come down to user error! There is a fill line on the outside, stick to it. Make sure the cap is half undone. Add the inner and push down from a height. I'm feeble up top so if I can do it in 8-10 seconds, anyone can!

Fantastic innovative item. I've used the lightweight version multiple times before with no issues. This version improves on that item and with increased capacity and some comfort features, is certainly hard to beat. Couple this to the filtration capabilities which are unchallenged at this price point, makes this a true game changer. Slightly heavy, but is understandably robust because of it.

It is a major improvement the original one the gripe is better and the new opening for the air to come off when you press makes it much easier to refill in the field. The quality of the water is great. Make sure you dry the filter part so will work well when you need it again.

I received my Grayl geopress very fast, it only took one night to get to me. I have already carried out a few tests with the geopress and so far so good. The water tastes great and the bottle is quite light as an all in one purification system, it weighs in at around 480g which for me is pretty good. I definitely recommend for anyone who wants fast purified water anywhere in the world!

Regarding the review complaining about the tape on the handle - it's there by design! The bottle is secured to the packaging it comes in with a cable tie. The tape is there to prevent the tie from rubbing on the handle causing wear. Why 4 stars though? It's because the design, while good, could still be improved. The plunging action is fine, it's the removal of the inner bottle from the outer which is the hard part. Basically, you are trying to grip a wide diameter plastic tube (the outer part) and pull up on another part with limited gripping areas (the inner part). They have helped the grip on the outer part by adding some grippy material, however this is only on one side of the bottle; it really needs to be on both sides. Then there's the inner / top part. It's hard to describe, but basically it's hard to get an effective grip on it due to its shape, size and design. You can try pulling on the handle part, but you're pulling off-centre and potentially risking breaking it (it wouldn't happen for a while, but it's bound to happen eventually given the forces involved). There are a few rubberised areas but they're low down on the lid (need long fingers or big hands) and have plastic parts above them with slightly "sharp" edges, so if you try pulling up from these rubber parts it can potentially be quite sore on the fingers. I suspect the separation of the parts might get easier over time (like an aeropress) and maybe I just need to find the right technique, but I also think this is something which can be improved on by design. Also, for anyone wondering about the size - if you happen to have a 1L Nalgene bottle, it's about the same diameter but a bit taller. Also, the large part of the top lid can be unscrewed for a faster pour / cleaning. If you are cleaning it with soapy water you'll need to unscrew the filter first though. Again, the filter is quite a large diameter and needs to be unscrewed by hand, so if you have small hands I can see this being difficult. Aside from these few gripes, it is a solid product which will undoubtedly last for years, if not decades.

Produit vraiment impressionnant. Le système est simple : on remplit, on presse, et en quelques secondes on obtient une eau potable, même à partir d’une source douteuse. C’est très rassurant en randonnée ou en voyage. La capacité n’est pas énorme, mais ce n’est pas vraiment un problème : l’idée est plutôt de s’en servir pour produire de l’eau propre et remplir ensuite plusieurs gourdes classiques. Dans cet usage, c’est parfait. La filtration est très complète (virus, bactéries, parasites, mais aussi goûts et odeurs), et le débit est rapide (environ 8 secondes pour 710 ml) Seul point à noter : il faut appuyer assez fort pour filtrer, et la bouteille est un peu plus lourde qu’une gourde classique. Mais c’est largement compensé par l’efficacité. Excellent produit pour le bivouac, la randonnée ou les voyages en zone où l’eau n’est pas fiable. Je recommande sans hésiter. Son seul défaut... son prix

The water that stays at the bottom (that isnt going through the filter) is leaking on the top when you drink. Also after 2 weeks it takes like a minute to press through the water putting all my weight on it.... In the first few days it went really fast and smooth. Does that mean my filter expired in like two weeks using daily 2-3 filtering????? I mean the purified water feels super clean, but the brand promises more lifetime for a filter than 2 weeks and I would also expect that. I only use it with tap water at home and in my workplace... :/

Ich besitze verschiedenste Wasserfilter und war nie richtig zufrieden. Das werde ich mit diesem hier womöglich auch nicht, denn obwohl er von seiner Handhabung und Robustheit wirklich absolut Klasse daher kommt, so ist er nun mal auch ziemlich schwer und bullig. In die Mesh Seitentasche meines Rucksacks passt er zwar, jedoch nur wenn der Rucksack noch nicht vollständig gepackt ist. Das ist natürlich nicht grad perfekt. Die Frage ist, kaufe ich mir einen neuen Rucksack oder beiß ich auch mal in einen sauren Apfel :-) ? Naja es ist jammern auf höchstem Niveau, denn in erster Linie habe ich ihn für meine Inlands Outdoor Touren bestellt und fülle bei mir an Quellen im Hochschwarzwald meine Reserven auf. Mit seinen 500 Gramm ist der Filter natürlich auch kein Leichtgewicht, bedenkt man, das hier nur ~750ml Wasser Platz finden. Für meine erste Tour am Albsteig über 4 Tage mit dem Grayl werde ich auf jeden Fall in der kommenden Woche nochmal berichten. Edit 10.05.21 Natürlich ist es schon etwas her, wo ich ihn benutzt habe, und dieses Jahr kam er noch nicht zum Einsatz. So bleibt mir meine Erfahrung vom Albsteig zu berichten. Zuerst einmal muss ich sagen, als Leichtgewicht kann man ihn nicht bezeichnen, jedem sollte klar sein das ein guter und robuster Filter wie es der Grayl nunmal ist, auch ein Gewicht mitbringt. Das Füllvermögen ist gering, jedoch kann man ja auch mehrere Durchläufe starten. Das habe ich zbsp. gemacht, indem ich meine 3L Source aufgefüllt habe. Zum kochen oder mal für Kaffee/Teewasser reichte der Grayl mit einem Durchgang völlig aus. Dafür war ich eben von der Handhabung begeistert. Öffnet man den Trinkverschluss oben leicht, kann beim drücken die Luft entweichen und das Filtern ist absolut bequem und schnell vollbracht. Langsamer stetiger Druck reicht hier aus. Ich habe mich bewusst für die Alpinweiße Version entschieden. Warum? Bei Sonnenlicht, also generell leuchtet der weiße Körper gut durch, wenn man ihn gegen das Licht hält. Man erkennt hier also auch Farbstoffe oder tatsächlich auch Fremdstoffe im inneren und kann auch optisch noch einmal das Wasser gut kontrollieren. Besonders Verfärbungen die nicht gefiltert werden konnten (warum allerdings auch immer), können ein Indikator für Verschmutzungen sein. Doch ich kann entwarnen. Das Wasser im gefilterten Behälter ist absolut klar! Update 12.06.21 Der Grayl war gestern noch auf einer 2 Tage Tour im Schwarzwald auf dem Wolfssteig im Einsatz. Das Hohe Gewicht ist inzwischen akzeptiert, denn seine Vorteile sind hier eindeutig. Alle oben schon genannten Aspekte und P8unkte fließen abermals in meine Bewertung, zumal der Grayl immer noch keine Abnutzungserscheinungen aufkommen lässt. Die Gummiringe dichten nach wie vor ab, die Kontamination des im inneren gefilterten Wassers ist nur möglich, wenn ich mich partout zu blöd dafür anstelle. Das reinigen des Grayl ist simple, sämtliche Komponenten lassen sich auseinanderschrauben, bis auf die Filterkartusche selbst . Unter fließendem Wasser allerdings spüle ich die Kartusche dennoch ab, um mögliche Schwebstoffe und andere Mikroorganismen am Filter zu entfernen. Ein Rückspülen ist nur bedingt möglich, liegt an der Bauweise des Filters. Aber eine Armatur mit ordentlich Druck oder Brausefunktion in der Küche hilft auch. Update folgt in Kürze mit dem selben Filter wie gekauft.

Presa per imminente viaggio in Nepal. Attualmente l'ho testata in un solo trekking ed è sicuramente molto comoda. Onestamente è un po' grande, quindi per trekking di giornata la sconsiglio e propenderei per la versione più piccola. Il suo grande punto di forza, rispetto agli svariati filtri ce si possono trovare, è che non è solo un filtro ma anche un purificatore. Quindi elimina anche virus e non solo batteri e protozoi come magari un Sawyer o un Lifestraw. Sinceramente ho cercato molto un purificatore e almeno di non andare su prodotti super TOP come MSR Guardian, mi sento di consigliare attualmente la Grayl Geopress. I took this on a 10 day canoe journey where I mostly only had access to stagnant lake water. I used it constantly. Always tasted fresh and never felt ill. There were a couple times where I was a little concerned because one of the lakes had bubbles when you disrupted the water. Then my filtered water also had bubbles. But it didnt seem to have any ill affects and I've been back for 7 months now. A little heavy for backpacking trips and tough to share with a large group since you'd constantly be refiltering. Otherwise, so perfect!
