Swiss M3777 Military Surplus Stove 3" Diameter Comes Fuel Camping

These are great little stoves and mine was in excellent condition, I received it extremely fast! The description says stove will come with matches but they do NOT. The seller is aware and is contacting Amazon to correct the description. Nevertheless for the price and the speedy shipping along with great communication I intend on ordering alot more from this seller. Already purchased a 2nd stove. 5 star seller 👍

I love these stoves. It smokes a bit, but that is good. A coating of black carbon on your pot makes it heat faster and saves fuel. The chemical that causes the alk to gel does not burn. The stove can be refilled with alk many times. It takes a day or so for the alk that you add to gel. Always use Heet gas line antifreeze from the Auto department (yellow bottle, not red bottle), Denatured alk from the Paint dept or Everclear drinking alk from the Liquor store.

This product is Swiss Military surplus. When originally issued they came fully wrapped in plastic with a book of matches in the bottom. As received the plastic on the bottom has been opened and the matches removed. They don't advertise them with matches so you get it as advertised. I ordered two stoves. One stove was in good condition, and one arrived completely empty and the plastic wrap had been compromised at the lid area and the alcohol had completely evaporated. The inside of the lid was corroded. The supplier promptly replaced it with one in good condition so kudos to them for good service. At 3" in diameter it works well with a small pot or cup, but not good for a larger pot. A US GI canteen cup fits nicely. You need a pretty flat surface for such a small stove to be stable. The gel will absorb addition alcohol such as yellow Heet sold at any gas station or automotive department but it takes a day or so for it to fully absorb. A multitool works well to remove the metal pot stand when its hot and use the top side of the lid to snuff the flame. Don't use the bottom of the lid or you will melt the gasket that seals stove when not in use. The stove cools fairly quickly. Overall a pretty cool stove and a nice piece of military gear unique to the nation of origin. They are becoming harder to find so they sell at a premium for what it is.

Works better than the sterno brand folding stove. Also the fuel is better than sterno. The stove can be modified to fit the larger sterno can, but I prefer the can it came with because it has a threaded lid. The writing on the can is not in english.

I ordered two of them, they are a great deal. They are small enough to fit into my bug out bag and not take up a lot of room. The company that sells them has great customer service as well, I will order from them again.

Bought this to "take a look". First thing to note (as have others) is that the stand won't fit anything else (any other "Sterno" can. Might fit a small empty paint can (think filling that with Perlite or cotton balls and denatured alcohol to make a Plumber's Stove, with the stand from this to hold a pot). Still, this item itself is an emergency use item for us. Seems for the Swiss it was an alternative to Alcohol or Solid Fuel for a mess kit, implying boiling water and heating rations. I understand from reviews this burns hotter than Sterno, and that when it is running low on gel, pouring Iso-Propal Alcohol into it will gel that. Also understand that the proper use of this is to cut an 'X' into the foil seal and lift the 'petals' up for ease of use and perhaps some focus of the flame. Limited use item you're not going to find anywhere but on-line. For emergency heat in a car-stranded situation, I'd go with an Ikea tableware cylinder and a can of Sterno (keep the window open a bit for fresh air)... you're not likely to be cooking anyway. Unfortunately I couldn't easily open the screw top, and just put this in my trunk for just-in-case after having that "quick look".

Great product

For the size and the weight I love this stove. It packs down super small and you don’t even know its there. It does exactly what it needs to do and that put out heat to boil water or cook some food. It boiled water just like i thought it would the stand is great and very lightweight. Even with the stand being as lightweight as what it is it still feels very durable and feels like it will hold up well. The lid locks on tight when you have the stove stored in your pack or house so you don’t have to worry about it spilling and the gel getting all over everything. The stand hugs the fuel can very nicely and doesn’t feel like it would fall off very easily. You are going to want to make sure you bring matches with you or another way to light it other then a regular sized BIC lighter. The only reason i say that is it is hard to get the regular bic down far enough to light the gel with the stove stand on. In my video i show that and how the best way to light it is. When the gel is all used up its great to be able to still use this by adding alcohol or by adding gel sterno to the stove. So you can get many of uses out of this little lightweight stove. Please do not use this stove indoors even inside of a tent might be to closed up. This stove puts off a terrible smell and will give you a terrible headache is you breath to much of it in. Trust me I know! Just be sure to try and stay down wind of it when using in a well ventilated area. It may not be harmful to your health but it sure smells like it is! Pros 1.) Very compact 2.) Lightweight 3.) Can be used with other fuels 4.) Good quality material 5.) Boils water in a reasonable amount of time Cons 1.) Rust on the stove I received 2.) Fumes are terrible when using 3.) Not so easy to light with a normal BIC lighter My stove did come with rust on the bottom. I understand its military surplus but in the description it says brand new and says nothing about somemay have rust on them. I wish there was something in the description about this. But yes i would still buy this stove even with the rust on it for the price it is a perfect backpacking stove! I am very happy with my purchase.
