Well, this is maybe the seventh or eighth Whirley Pop I've owned. Why so many? I keep giving them to friends and family who are blown away with how fast, easy, and perfect they are for making great popcorn.It takes about three minutes from start to finish for a big (6 quart!) bowl of fresh, hot, and really crisp popcorn. Add another minute to rinse the popper with hot water, and you're done! There are almost no "Old Maids" either, since the Whirley Pop makes popcorn exactly as a commercial popper does, plus it's fun and easy, too. This gift set is apparently identical to the more expensive Whirley-Pop Popper option here on Amazon, as it comes with the 6-quart popper and some bags of coconut oil and popcorn. I got mine this afternoon and was popping perfect popcorn minutes later, after a quick wash of the popper.The popper itself is of high quality, with a wood-clad turning handle and nylon gears that operate smoothly when cranking.The main pot is made of good quality aluminum--not very thick and heavy, but certainly sturdy enough to last for years. The lid is pretty thin though and it would be easy to warp or bend it. The steam holes do let out lots of steam during popping and care should be exercised when holding the crank not to get steam or hot oil burns from those vents.Cooking the popcorn is as easy as you would expect it to be. The oil heats evenly and smoothly and the crank keeps the kernals evenly heated so that popping happens quickly and over a short period of time, which actually prevents the popcorn from burning. The crank turns smoothly, with a little more effort required as the popped kernals fill the kettle.Clean-up is easy--a little soap and water will get even burned sugar out of the kettle, I discovered. Some people just wipe the inside and leave it.All-in-all a good value for a pot dedicated to popcorn. If you're serious about your popcorn, this is an affordable choice. My brother has a stainless steel pot and he said that the plastic viewport in his melted. Although this one is made of aluminum, it actually seems better made. Buy with confidence.

I recall making popcorn the old fashion way many years ago before microwave popcorn. Wow this really brings back some great childhood memories. Sure you can make it in a pot like we used to, but the stirring device really is a great idea and this item is just perfect for popping corn in. First of all the aluminum is great at transferring heat and is really simple to clean. Our last batch literally had every kernel pop and did not burn. We have found that we simply can not have both all the corn pop and not burn some of it in the microwave. Corn sitting in the oil in a microwave bag....it just can't be good for it. Our last batch of whirley-pop was at least twice as fluffy and airy than microwave popcorn. You really need to taste it to believe it.Our last purchase of microwave corn will probably be our last one for a very long time. We use Orville Redenbacker corn and oil (Bought from Smith's/Kroger) and topped it with some real melted butter. So much better than microwave.A note on the warranty. I have not used it yet, but have some friends that have and they rave at how good they have been treated by this company. As other people have noted here, go gentle on the stirring device, its pretty much the only thing that will break. Turn the handle slowly, once it gets hard to turn you really have stirred it enough, let the corn finish the last bit on its own. The stirring part should really last for years if you just take it easy.Give this product a chance, what do you have to lose? Great price for a product that does a great job that is backed by a company that stands behind their product. Simple recipe for a no brainer win win purchase. The only reason I push so hard for this company and product such as this is because this is the type of company that deserves our money, they earn it!One last note, if you are on a diet then skip the butter. We use very little oil when we make ours it comes out great. You can get use squirt butter flavoring that adds little to no calories and still enjoy a great and now somewhat healthy snack.

This one had metal gears as opposed to plastic. They’re the reason I needed a new one! Well done. Love this thing. Now it’s even better.
