Affordable, Attractive and Functional Steak Knives
I use Henckels knives for serious cooking projects, but didn't want to put that kind of money into a steak knife that isn't used on a regular basis. These cost only $27 for four knives--you wouldn't expect much at that price. I was pleasantly surprised to see one solid piece of high-carbon Japanese stainless steel alloy. It blends in well with other dinner flatware and gets the job done cutting through thick meats. Some reviewers commented they are serrated--mine are not, making sharpening easy. I like the sleek look of these knives, and think they will hold up well if I follow the manufacturer's directions of regular sharpening and hand-washing/drying.2015 Update: Four years later, the knives remain as sharp as the day they were purchased (I haven't needed to sharpen them). We absolutely love these knives.

Inaccurate Item description
The blades on these knives are actually serrated, not non-serrated as the description states. I wanted a straight edge blade that I could hone when necessary which cant't be done easily with a serrated edge. Overall the knife feels pretty good in hand though I found the blade slighly long at 5 1/2 inches. Returning them for a straight egde knife.

Good knives
I have used these knives for several parties and am pleased with my purchase. I bought these because they are one piece stainless steel and look sleek. No crevices for crud to get into and no worries about bolted on handles coming apart over time. I noticed that some reviewers said that the knives they received were serrated. Mine are plain edged and will be easy to hone when the time comes. The knife itself is sturdy and doesn't bend easily from side to side like some of the less expensive knives I have handled. They arrived very sharp and cut well. I have noticed that water stains are an issue, so you need to hand wash them and dry them immediately. If they do stain, you can buff them out fairly easily. The cases they come in are pretty cheap and plastic, so they wouldn't stand up to alot of use (I deducted one star for this). Also note that the knives are fairly large and may look a little intimidating on the table. They may feel bulky to people with small hands. The photo which only shows part of the knives in the case is a little misleading because they are bulkier than they appear. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase - these are quality steak knives that should last for years and they weren't ridiculously expensive.

These knives are serrated...beware!!!
I believe that consumers take a risk buying online at vendors like Amazon because you cannot physically inspect/verify what you are about to purchase. Yet, I often make these purchases due to the convenience, lower prices, good reputation, and trust I have in Amazon. This, my friends, is one of those times you will get burned. The description for this product states "Non-serrated blade for optimal cutting of meat." My blades WERE serrated, so I guess this means my cutting of meat will be less than optimal. I did tons of research on steak knives and almost took the plunge to buy a set that was 10 times this one's cost when I found the Rachel Ray Furi set. I figured I would take a chance since the price was so reasonable.I will say that I like the aesthetics of the knives. They are large like other reviewers have said, but that conjures up quality cuts of meat at fine steak restaurants, not images of medieval swords. Cause they are really not THAT big. I also like the handle as it fits my larger hands well.I must admit, I was pretty ticked when I saw these were serrated...and still am. However, my solution was to break out my electric knife sharpener and create my own straight edge. 2 hours later, I finally had the steak knives I was hoping for. One more thing, 1 out of 4 knives makes a ting sound when you shake it. I believe it must be a piece of metal encased within the handle accidentally during the manufacturing process. In summary, I cannot give a average or higher review for a product that is not what was stated in the product description. These vendors must be responsible for their dishonest practices. The knives are actually pretty nice if you don't mind serrated edges or are willing to spend hours grinding the serration away to get your straight edge.

description inaccurate
The knives arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but were not as expected - the product description states that these are 'non-serrated' but this is untrue. Both sets of knives that I received were indeed serrated. It's not a huge issue, but definitely a deception as these were not the style I was looking for.

Good Value Steak Knives.
I read all the reviews by customers who'd received serrated knives and were unhappy with them.I already have six Furi Steak Knives as part of a 14 piece set; they're serrated, unlike these from Amazon with a straight edge. I'm very happy with the six serrated knives I already have, so I wasn't really bothered wether I received either type. These knives, although absolutely enormous, are fantastic, cut through steak like butter.Like all good quality knives, they do need to be handwashed, no water staining as reported by other reviewers.Amazon's price is amazing, less than half the price I'd have to pay if I bought them from an Australian retailer.
