2005.5 VW Jetta, Amazing!!!
I own a 2005.5 VW Jetta (Early MK5). I bought the radio despite having no review originally. I delayed installation as I feared battery drain. I just installed it, plug the cables in, at first, it powered on right away with no key in the ignition, BUT, if you disconnect the black clip holding the red and orange cables together, the radio now only powers on it with the key in the ignition, as it should! (Thanks to another customer for pointing this out to me) So anyone fearing battery drain, hopefully this helps!!!Anyway, the radio itself is great. I love the android operating system and the features to the radio. I'm still getting use to it, but it is very smooth, sound quality is very crisp, and touch screen is pretty responsive.Haven't installed the backup camera yet, but I do love how the radio detects the status of the car/engine, and it can detect when you are in reverse (so if I install, I probably wont have to tap into the reverse light and extra wiring issues). My only issue, was that you can only plug in ONE radio antenna into the device and an adapter for 2 to 1 was not included. I still have access to AM/FM; but I may want to purchase the adapter for best sound quality and most stations. Luckily, bluetooth and microphone work great! Also CDs work very well!Overall this device is a great purchase, and is a major upgrade over the stock radio! Once installed, the look is much more modern! Great device at a great price!

Android 10 phone is best to sync
Make certain you place the GPS antenna well, to use NAV you need a good satellite signal. EasyCon download allows my Android 10 phone to link with the stereo to mirror the phone's display, orientation is whatever you choose landscape or portrait, but my phone and the stereo have different resolution, so my display on the stereo is blurry. I am able to use all the functions that are advertised, with a few misgivings. The backup camera that came with it failed shortly. It seems to show 'no signal' more often than not, perhaps the light socket in my car is not providing a good connection for power, I cannot troubleshoot it. The NAV program onboard the stereo needs a better antenna placement of the GPS antenna for me to review at this time. The DSP controls are excellent, Smart Bass, Loudness Contour, and Equalizers are easy to set up for great sound. In mirror link mode through the USB and EasyCon app, the touch screen becomes active on the phone, such that the stereo screen now controls my Android 10 Ulefone Armor X5. This device has promise, and has many functions, although the display mismatch and blurriness is a disappointment. It plays .avi and .mp4 files from TF or USB. It plays .mp3 files and .wav. Fit in My '07 Jetta perfect. Wolfsburg package. I think that as a music player alone this unit excells. I will re-review once I get the GPS antenna right. Care to note: the antenna jacks for wifi and GPS are not labeled. The upper is wifi and the lower is GPS, I believe. I get decent wifi reception. I will attempt to update the firmware in the device from wifi connection to help with the shortcomings such as resolution mismatch. I hope a patch is released. I needed to add an RF filter to power the cam, since engine noise is on the backing cam display. the GPS antenna was mounted to the windsheild and NAV works decent. Still awaiting a patch for Easy Connection Mirror link.

Overheats to over 250° Fahrenheit after 30 minutes and stops working.
This is the first of two android head units I tried installing in my 2009 GTI and they both ended up having the same issue. The entire head unit gets up over 120°C/248°F (verified using my FLIR One thermal camera that has a max temp of 120°C/248°F.) Once it overheats, it's a ticking timebomb. Touching the screen or putting the car in reverse will lock the head unit up to the point where it shuts down and gets stuck in a boot loop until it cools down (about 10 minutes with the car off). You'll notice that the maximum audio level halves itself, with no difference in volume from level 15 through 30. I really love the idea of having an android head unit.. they work great for car rides under 30 minutes.. but as soon as it reaches that temperature threshold, they fail miserably. This thing is only good for short trips.

Great buy for the price!
Perfect fit for my 2015 Jetta SE. It has a lot of extras including 2 usb wires from behind it. You will need a usb extension wire and then route it from behind the unit to someplace in the cabin where you can access it and it won't be in the way. I like that it takes two mini sd cards (one comes with the unit and has maps on it for your inbuilt GPS navigation). The other can be music or videos just like the usb drives. I have not checked to see if the navigation sd can be switched out with a music or video card. What i wish i had known was that the unit ships with some kind of thin cardboard or whatever in the disc drive. I imagine it's there for shipping and keeping that part of the unit secure. Anyway I attempt to load a disc a couple time only to realize that something is stopping the disc from fully entering the slot. I can tell that there's something there along those lines. I'm hoping to take it to my installer and see if he can work it out. I'd live to view it play DVDs! Also I was quoted some serious money from a couple of pro places to install this unit ($400 - $1100) depending on features and other mumbo jumbo. My friend does this stuff as a hobby and at first I was reluctant to have him do it but lo and behold it was a super easy install on my 2015 Jetta! He popped out the dash portion and four screws held the factory radio in and my new unit fit right in. There's a wire harness that plugs right into the factory harness simple. The only issue we had was the antenna wire was not compatible between the unit and the stock wire. So i have no radio right now but we're going to work something out. Heck I don't miss AM/FM anyway with all I have going right now and that's without the dvd running yet. Oh and the unit installs ready to play while the vehicle is in motion. If you want to disable this feature you can do so in the settings. Great buy for the price!
