This is NOT a decongestant but a preventative spray!
First send foremost this is not a decongestant but a preventing spray. I can no longer take or use most of the hay-fever things due to other medication. However this is fine. By coating the inside of the nose it prevents the reactions to pollen in the first place. Not 100% effective, but works pretty well for me. No runny nose or sneezing, even during current heatwave, and even my eyes aren't too bad. Be warned, though. Each spray causes a weird tingling sensation for a few seconds, which some could find rather unplesant, and there is a faint lingering spearmint smell. All I can say is try it.

Stings and has an oily taste but it works
Despite taking the daily hey fever tablets I still get the itchy eye, runny nose, stuffed head symptons. Pros +Easy to use +Does work in minutes +Improves allergy reactions over time Cons - Has a light burning sensation for the first 2-3 seconds everytime you use it. - It has an oily aftertaste it leaves in your mouth which tastes similar to fish oil. This is actually from plant based oils in the ingerdients but I personally hate it as it lingers for a good while in your mouth and you can taste it. If not for the fact this product actually works and I can't find any alternative that matches, I would have stopped using this, due to the oil flavour. I would rather have the nasty flavour and no symptons.

A great preventer of hayfever onset
I've been using this product for a month now and can say that it definitely helps to ease my hayfever symptoms. I use it as soon as I wake up before my hayfever symptoms have chance to manifest and as a compliment to antihistamines. It does make me sneeze each time I use it but somehow despite that it still helps to prevent the symptoms (surprisingly). As the day progresses I sometime need to also use Beconase on high/very high pollen days but generally on moderate pollen days it is enough. I would say that I use Beconase less often with this product which is good because BecoDefence is drug free. It does not contain any cortisones whereas Beconase does. Top up again after 6 hours for best results.

Eliminates hayfever
I haven’t had hayfever for around 5+ years but all of a sudden it made an appearance this year. With the different hayfever tablets on the market they contain two different ingredients loratadine and some have Cetirizine and apparently if one doesn’t work for you then try the other to see if works any better. The tablets haven’t been the best for me in relation to quick acting as by the time you wake up your nose is already starting with the symptoms but have to say the cetirizine tablets worked better than the loratidine ones. Now onto this spray, I’ve had beconase sprays in the past but this one is a different level (well for me anyway) I’d say after about 5 minutes of spraying up each nostril it starts to work. This is a much thicker solution than the normal beconase sprays but doesn’t run down your throat or nose once sprayed and the bonus with the spray being thicker is that it creates a protective barrier up your nose to stop anymore pollen going up so you can be symptom free all day without your nose constantly running and blowing your nose all day. I’ll certainly be buying more of this stuff as at present the 3 days on the run I’ve used so far and it’s eased my symptoms right down it’s like not having hayfever

Ok
I have found this to be fairly effective at keeping my hayfever at bay to a degree, but it comes at a cost...first of all there are cheaper options on the market that I have found to be just as useful. But the major drawback for me is it is rather unpleasant to use. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and after application it causes me to have a bit of an unpleasant sneezing episode.

A solution that actually works
I had to speak up in favour of this one because it's definitely a bit controversial. Yes, it does give a bit of a burn for about 30 seconds after you spray it up your nose and it does smell strongly of mint. The white gel runs out of your nose a bit after applying and it can go down the back of your throat and tastes minty. But it actually *works*. For anyone who gets hayfever badly, the above downsides are completely outweighed by its usefulness. I get very heavy hayfever and loratadine or cetrizine barely take the edge off my symptoms. In recent years I've used steroid sprays such as beconase or pirinase which do help a bit and this year I've also started taking fexofenadine which seems to work better than loratadine but is not the dramatic improvement I was hoping for. Becodefence is the first solution I've found that actually reduces symptoms significantly within minutes of using it. It has already become the bottle I pick up first when I'm sneezing badly and need quick relief.

It does not give you 120 sprays
A brilliant nasal spray for hay fever, particularly if like me, the anti histamine based stuff doesn't work very well and makes you drowsy. I use it twice a day, once in the morning and once before I go to bed so that's 8 sprays/day. It usually lasts about 7 days before the bottle is empty... so that is 8x7 =56 sprays, not 120 as it states!!!!! Slightly misleading!!!
