Can it be installed in a gravel drieway?

I always attach the sections to a piece of pressure treated 10 foot 2x4 that is on the bottom of the of the gutter drain then install it. it definitely is 100 times easier than tryiing to level it piece by piece.

Could I use this on a sloped trail to send water out the two sides to prevent trail erosion? Trail is gravel/dirt...

Will dirt and gravel flow into the drain? If so it will fill up the drains. Hard to picture what your planning to do, at the entrance and end of the trail or along the edges?Mine are where crushed asphalt driveway and concrete garage drive meet, once a year I clean out the drains from fine bits of ground asphalt dust, it can add up. 3 buckets full this last time

is there a problem with cutting the galvanized grate if i have to shorten one of the sections? Any issues after installation?

I didn't have to cut the grate. I have not had any problems

I've had mine in since this summer and now we're halfway through winter and I see no signs of flaking however I haven't really been concerned about it. They do make it with a heavy plastic grate instead of galvanized steel if you prefer. I assume galvanized would be a bit stronger but probably that's not true
