GalcoPH286 Front Pocket Horsehide

The best $50 I've spent on a holster!
Due to the comfort and convenience I've been using this way more often then any belt type holster. The main complaint that I had for the previous pocket holster I bought, the Galco Pocket Protector, was that the exposed rear sights could possibly tear a hole in the pocket. This holster addresses that by having a ridge that hangs over the back sights to keep them from coming into contact with the pocket. The ridge also acts as a catch to grasp the top edge of the pocket when drawing the gun straight upwards. The triangular catch beneath the trigger guard works equally well as the one on the pocket protector and hooks into the bottom corner when you draw. While the material is not as "grippy" as the Pocket Protector's suede finish the holster fits the gun like a glove and it has the advantage of not leaving as much lint from the holster that can get caught onto the edges or nooks and crannies in the gun. Although the price was roughly double that of the Pocket Protector it is definitely worth it because now I'm using this holster full time! When I bought the Pocket Protector I only meant for it to be used to occasionally tote a gun. It wasn't long before it became really obvious at how much more comfortable pocket carry was when compared to a belt holster. I don't have to sit awkwardly in a chair or car seat, there was no irritation from something hard digging into my hip bones, I don't have to worry if the grip of the gun was jutting out whenever I bend over or raise my arms up and I don't have to wear larger sized pants to accommodate an inside the waistband holster. Another nice feature is if I ever go to a place where it is not permitted to carry a firearm I can easily remove the gun without having the trouble of undoing a belt or undressing to do it and don't have to worry about leaving a gun without an external safety out of a holster (like if you need to make a pit stop at a gas station during a long trip). Since this holster and the gun in it are the same size the same statements from my previous review of the Gaclo Pocket Protector apply. One extra point I forgot to address when I did that review was that that the gun is 30mm wide and the holster adds about 4 more millimeters to the overall width, which means the more shallow pockets might be held open enough that you can see the back strap of the grip. The same goes with this Glock holster as well. This is not so much of a problem on garments with deeper pockets, more roomy fit or not a problem at all if the shirt or jacket sit over the top half of the pocket. In fact, whether or not you will be able to carry this will be dictated by how big your pockets are and if your trousers are not too tightly fitting. I've had great results with cargo pants, carpenter and relaxed jeans, pants and shorts but it will work with regular fit clothes provided that the pockets are deep enough and there is enough room for you to sit down with the holster and gun in the pocket. If you really want to go the extra mile you can take it to your tailor to have a larger pocket sewn in or the next time you go to buy new clothes take the holster and gun with you to test how well they fit. Because I already have a lot of cargo, relaxed fit and carpenter style shorts and pants this holster has been the least obtrusive to integrate to my wardrobe. There is even the possibility of using it in the winter time by simply putting it in a coat pocket. It'd be way easier to get to rather than trying to dig through layers of clothing, buttons and zippers. I also find that even in the winter when I go inside I take my coat off anyways. In that case a shoulder holster or bigger gun worn in an outside the waistband holster wouldn't be concealed after that. With this holster you can easily switch it from your coat pocket to your pants pocket. Just be sure to have your coat buttoned or zippered up. I found out that when drawing from an unbuttoned/unzipped jacket the gun doesn't come out of the pocket. There's enough friction that it stays inside and the whole side of your coat moves with your hand inside it. In all this has made conceal carry for me easy, unobtrusive and comfortable while still giving me the option to get to the gun quickly and even wear the clothes that I normally wear!

Fits a Glock 30 like a glove
Wish I bought it a year ago. Fits my Glock 30 like a glove. I warmed it up with a hair dryer to help it seat fully since it is a bit stiff. Should loosen up after wearing it for a little bit. Stays in pocket on the draw, the hook is a nice added insurance. Well made, my only gripe is the leading edge by the slide prints hard. I suspect it will bend and mould with time. Hope you have a deep pocket, the Glock 30 is a handful, a bit on the large side for pocket carry but I seem to pull it off well. Fits my loose fit carhart pants well enough.

Will not disappoint
Galco never fails. This pocket holster is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect fit for my G26. And yes it’s ambidextrous

Great pocket holster for my baby glock
Great pocket holster for my baby glock. Real spendy but worth it. The rough horsehide outside grabs real well in the pocket while the burnished and coated interior releases very well also. Nice design and nice craftsmanship. This one won't disappoint like 90% of the holsters out there ultimately do. Ask any permit holder to show you his so-so holster stash, there will be one somewhere.

another fine galco holster
took a chance on this one. it was not advertised for a glock 43 but works well. my 3rd galco horsehide. i recommend them in general and this one in particular. still, not for those who have small pockets or like a tight fit in pant legs.

nice holster, well made
Great holster but why I bought it for a Glock 26 I have no idea. That particular gun is not exactly 'pocket friendly' due to its size. I would order it again though for smaller pistols. Well made.

Fine for what it is.
If you have very large pockets like pleated khakis - sure. Blue Jeans not so well. My advice is find a good inside the pant holster. If you know this what you want then buy it. The quality is fine - very nice.
