I have been quite curious of this and after reading several reviews and blog posts I finally got one. This one was priced better than others I've seen. When this arrived it came in a very small box; I'm guessing a 4x4 box. This definitely makes traveling with it a lot easier as it can become quite compact. Once I took it out of the box there was the plastic smell everyone mentions. I let it air for a day which did not get rid of the smell so I wiped it with the 7th generation disinfectant wipe. Then let it sit and air for another day. This seemed effective at removing the smell.This mat has 3 valves. A small one in the outer and one small one large on the inner. The smaller valves I'm guessing was for air. The larger valve is for water. Therefore only the inner part can be filled with water. I inflated the outer ring first then filled the inner part with water. I had a bit of trouble filling with water as I was using the bathroom sink. I'll try the kitchen sink or bathtub next time as I imagine it's easier to fill. So far so good and no leaks! I did have a hard time trying to get all the foam creatures to move about. It definitely peaked my LO's interest. No fussiness! Look forward to using it more.Update - to allow the foam animals to float, air should be let in to the center area of the mat. Without air the foam peices is not likely to move about; too much air will also make it difficult for you or baby to poke at to move the peices.

It is very hard to blow up, but was finally able to and it is working well now.

I give this 5 stars. Wonderful idea. Bought for my great nephew, it didn't help with tummy time. He was 4 or 5 months and now 7 months. He REALLY, REALLY hate being on his stomach.

These are amazing. Bought for my grand babies. They are 5months and they now love tummy time. If they roll over and fall asleep. The foam pieces that float around are great. Very durable and strong.

The mat is brightly colored and made of thick pvc. We tried it with just air which wasn’t as interesting to our baby as when we filled it with water. Filled with water our baby was able to push down a bit on the plastic making small waves which delighted him. The only trouble we had was that the outer tube, which is filled with air, pinched inwards instead of laying flat. We were unable to get the sides straight even varying water and air. Otherwise, entertaining product.
