Excellent Instructional Chair Yoga DVD for Seniors
Excellent yoga dvd for seniors. Visually pleasing Zen-meditative background setting & music. Instructor does not talk while performing Yoga moves, which I find distracting with many videos. Instead the instructor talks you through each movement in the background in a calming, non- irritating tone, and at a leisurely pace. The dvd has 3 levels of progressive difficulty from which a person new to Yoga can choose to perform based on current mobility & mobility, including both sitting & standing movements using a chair for support & balance. The instructor also provides her contact information should the purchaser find that the third level of movements are not challenging enough & wish to exchange this dvd for one of her more challenging dvds. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

PERFECT VIDEO FOR SENIOR CENTERS
The participants (20 ladies and 3 men) are all thrilled with the video, YOGA FOR SENIORS with JANE ADAMS. We watch and do the movements three times a week. We all feel that it is improving our balance, strength, flexibility. The exercises are "just right" for us - not too hard and not too easy. The pace of the instruction is perfect - we move along throughout the entire workout - we like the second level the best. Jane's voice is so soothing and pleasant that it is a pleasure to listen to while we do the work-out. We have been using it for a couple of months and we were devastated when we thought it would no longer be available to us. Each of us has experienced improvement and want to continue to use this for a long time in the future. One of the best parts of the video is the meditation part near the end. After this meditation, we feel fully refreshed and relaxed; although it is a simple meditation, it is very effective. Sometimes, the simpler ones are the easiest to do and the most fulfilling. Jane's quiet voice and kind chair exercises seem effortless but at the end, you know you've had a work-out and are ready for whatever follows in your life.

Great routine for all age groups
This is a very good DVD. There are three programs to follow for different levels of ability. The moves are all slow and gentle. Some are in a chair and some are standing. I think any age could do any of these routines. I like how in the third routine it tells you before those exercises start how many minutes of each type of stretching exercises there will be. So if you're at all uncomfortable doing them, you can see that you only have a few minutes left before you start doing a different set of exercises. I just finished the Level 3, 55 minutes routine. Normally if I exercise that long, I feel really tired afterwards, but I didn't with this. I just feel relaxed. The other levels are shorter routines. Jane Adams does a great job of slowly explaining and showing how to do each move.

Excellent yoga for seniors!
I haven't done yoga for years and don't have a great sense of balance although I went to balance classes for years and am much improved. This DVD has three segments of escalating difficulty but you can hold onto a chair when needed which helps. There are other yoga for seniors dvds but this one was well reviewed and I agree. I plan to keep using it for a long time. The scenery is also therapeutic. I'm 73 and highly recommend this DVD.

Pleasantly Surprised!
For less than $20 I received a well produced quality Chair Yoga program that is wonderful to use and easy to follow. Jane narrates the exercise activities off camera so she does not need to talk while she demonstrates throughout each program. Therefore you can easily follow along without the distraction of her needing to talk while performing the routines. There is nothing that would prevent me from giving this wonderful Chair Yoga anything but 5 stars.

Amazingly helpful
This yoga video surpassed my hopes for being doable and helpful. I was truly surprised by how useful I felt the level one exercises were for someone my age. I used to do yoga regularly but haven't for over a decade. I could see how each level one exercise was designed to help develop flexibility and strength in ways that would make a difference in day to day living. I enjoyed the exercises and loved being able to see Jane in the midst of all of the flowers. My husband who has never done yoga, was able to do every exercise and see that each would aid him in getting more flexibility and balance.Level 2 was a bit more challenging but totally doable. If I continue with that program I will be able to do regular yoga again. We have not watched the level 3 but I know I will use a Jane Adams dvd for the rest of my life. I really trust this woman and she is a great teacher.

Good practice for beginners!
Buyers should know seller takes a $7.98 restocking fee if unhappy with their purchase! That may be upsetting for those on fixed incomes! This dvd was just not right for my yoga practice. The setting is lovely though.

Yoga building blocks that everyone needs
A new favorite yoga DVD for me. I've almost completed my 230 hour yoga certification but my focus is more therapeutic or modified yoga approaches. I have been taking chair yoga classes with my elderly mother for years and am always impressed that even though it is in the "chair" I still feel like it is a good workout. The chair doesn't make it easier necessarily, it just changes your focus and makes other muscles work harder. My personal practice focuses on Somayoga, a combination of somatics and hatha yoga. I find this DVD actually has elements of that built in or that I can easily somatize myself. It works on foot, ankles and hands, as well as a lot on balance. BTW, balance work is core work for those who want to work on that. I like that there are 3 levels and progressively longer workouts so I can pick the one I want to do based on my available time. When I do these, I just make sure to focus on my edges and not go beyond my current range of motion, while also keeping my core activation in mind. I move slower than she says sometimes but doing the same movement mindfully. It is a great addition to guide my at home practice on days I don't want to guide myself. It is a safe yoga DVD as long as you know how to focus on your own body signals about your edge of stretch or pain (don't go into a full stretch, only to the edge).
