I wish it hadn't taken decades of living before finding this tool
This is a surprisingly effective hand tool for hand weeding an area. It feels different to use than a lot of western hoes/etc that typically require a chopping or stabbing motion and may take a little experimenting with to learn how to most effectively use it, (I find a slight slashing motion to get the tip under tough grass roots followed by a draw back towards yourself the most efficient/natural feeling way to use it), but once you get used to it, it feels almost like an extension of your hands rather than a clunky tool, and it can deal with surprisingly tough weeds surprisingly efficiently once you get used to it (at least it has for me). My gardening nemesis last year was out of control weeds in my vegetable garden (especially problematic was the extremely aggressive and woody stoloned lawn grass that was determined to smother everything else in my dense clay soil that makes pulling things out by the root nigh impossible wirhout serious digging). While I still loathe that kind of grass, this tool makes trying to tame it at least a reasonable task instead of what seemed an excessize in futility. It's also easy to get around valued plant stems in a surgical way (with a little care taken) since it is most effective coming at the weeds from a sideways angle instead of vertically which puts valued plant leaves and stems between the weed and the gardener. As well as being effective on Sparkling Grassy weeds, it also works fine for getting out things with annoying taproot by just turning the tool and using the pointed end to dig beside the taproot and level it out. This tool isn't magic and won't just erase hard weeds, but it certainly makes hand-weeding a *lot* easier more effective than it used to be and has quickly become of of the 2 tools I have with me almost anytimeI'm walking by the garden (the other being a gardening knife). With it costing less than $20 when I bought it, I have no worries being rough on it since if/when I eventually do chip the blade enough I can't or don't want to try repairing it myself it's affordable enough I would happily replace it. (Though I will say happily, despite being somewhat rough on it and only being careful when I know I'm working next to a rock, it hasnt chipped so far in the several months I've used it).

Makes weeding a breeze
This lightweight, handy tool, aids in quickly weeding without much effort. I have purchased multiple weeding sickles as gifts and also so that more than one of us in the family can use it at a time. It is very sharp. I recommend spray painting the handle a bright color so it is easily seen if laid down in the grass or weeds.

Must-have gardening tool
This is a game-changer. It scrapes roots out of the ground like butter. I was able to clear out a raised garden bed that had been completely overtaken by weeds in 15 minutes without even getting sweaty. I just wish there was a version with a longer handle so you don't have to bend over as much.

A great idea for a weeding tool
This is very cool. Leave it to the Japanese to develop a better weeder. Probably hundreds of years ago. I like the sharp point that lets you get under other plants to cut out the weeds. I like that it has one at a different angle on the back of the tool. I like that it is sharp enough to drag through the soil effortlessly to cut out a lot of weeds at once. However, It seems to me that the tool could have been made with the handle more in the middle of the blade. Because the handle is more to one side than another, it wants to twist sometimes when using, and you have to grip it quite strongly to keep it from turning. Maybe there is a reason for this, but I haven't discovered it yet. Still a great tool.

Works great! Makes weeding easy. Could be a little sharper, but thats my only real gripe, and is something i can fix myself.

Japanese garden tool
Super easy weeding tool! It cuts through almost anything with ease. Be careful when weeding around vegtable stems. It’s easy to Nick them. I use mine for the raised beds. Perfect size for a hand tool. Easy to use with either hand, functions well once you understand the angle needed. Good tool to have in the garden. Compact and easy to store.

Pratico e robusto
