Really good can opener. Many of the ones you can buy in retail box stores and cheaply made and don't work. This one is well made, durable, and works every time. I highly recommend and would buy it again.

Absolutely the best! Needed to replace my ancient can opener from the 80’s…I’ve gone through at least 5 manual can openers and two electric trying to find one that actually works.. This one does! Absolutely old school, no fancy, no fuss. Just a work horse! Highly recommend! Note: I am getting to a “certain” age, thus the experiments with electric can openers. but, #1–I very much dislike ANOTHER thing that needs to be plugged in and #2 this device is no problem for me to operate.

I actually bought this one as a gift to my daughter who struggles with carpal tunnel pain and 'regular' can openers. She didn't believe there could be much difference from one brand to the next. "It's so easy to turn" she said that while she can't explain why it's different, she can FEEL the difference. Aside from making opening cans pain free these things last forever and I will never stop recommending them. Best can opener ever, quick, easy, painless, and doesn't take up space on your counter or make obnoxious noise like an electric would

This model works very well, but be careful, since the same company makes a cheaper version, which looks similar, but it does not have the two gear wheels. I bought one of those in a store and had to return it.

I gave 4 stars because I don't think I have ever used this type of can opener before and was surprised how sturdy it seems. I have only used it for a few days and only a couple of times but it seems like it might last for while. It didn't take any effort to open a can with it. Yesterday I noticed the rubber handles were trying to slip off but other then that no problem so far. I didn't know this product was made in China and I probably would not have ordered it if I had know because the last 5 years I have went through about 30 or more can openers all from China and all broke, usually within just days or a month or two. I might not order this again if it is still made in China but if I could find the exact same thing made in America I would definitely purchase it again and recommend it to anyone. I hope it last a few years but I will still be on the lookout for a made in America version. My grandmother had several made in America can openers that people were always borrowing and not bringing back but they were all the same type and they lasted me all through my childhood and I know some she had lasted for over 30 years. All of them were the Ekco brand, the "butterfly" type. I tried finding them in stores and even contacted the manufacturer and I warned by someone that they are now made in China and will break down like all the other cheap made garbage. I have reduced the amount of can food my family eats over the years all because of only being able to find terrible cheap constructed can openers from China. I'm not wasting any more money if this can opener doesn't work or If I can't find a similar one made in America I'm just giving up on can food all together because it's ridiculous that you can't even open your purchases because the equipment that is made to open the purchases are done by greedy companies trying to rob consumers with faulty poorly constructed products and should be boycotted if not sued.

Replaces older can opener: same model. Lasts a long time, but eventually pulls after years of use.
