I have a big head and a lot of hair...usually fit L/XL hats..will this fit me?

I have a large head as well and it fits me with it loosened. It is a well made very nice looking hat.

what is the crown height?

Our Panama hat cap is 4.3 inches high，M size Hat Circumference is about 22.1"-22.8", Brim 2.9"; L size Hat Circumference is about 22.8"-23.6", Brim 2.9"

Can you remove the black ribbon?

You can not remove the black ribbon around the outside of the hat. However you can remove the fitted ribbon under the neck. Hope that helps!
