This is an outstanding book, both expert and readable. The authors argue compellingly that creative thinking is central to the capabilities that are likely to lead to success in school and in life, and therefore needs to be central to the whole school experience, across all disciplines in the curriculum as a complement to teaching high standards of knowledge, within the co-curriculum, and throughout the school culture. Taking a broad model of creativity in five dimensions, the book puts forward a range of teaching and learning practices for cultivating it, examples of promising practices, likely challenges, and ways of tracking the progress of learners. It is a model of how to apply robust and evidence-based theory to actual practice in schools. It will be a tremendously valuable guide for teachers and school leaders at both primary and secondary levels who want to embed creative thinking in their schools.
