It is durable and our cat immediately started interacting with it the moment we turned it on. This is a super cool cat toy and really looks like a butterfly flying around. The only downside could be the motor makes a sound, so if your cat is sensitive to sounds it might not be a hit. Review: I wish I could give it 10 stars. Best prey-play sequence ever. - Be creative with this awesome toy! My cat “killed” it too easily on the floor alone. She needed a longer prey sequence, so I enclosed it in an desertcart box adapted to allow space for the circling butterfly, with cut out windows. I stuck it to the floor when she “hunts”. Now she complains if I turn it off before she catches her and kills her prey. Once she “kills” it, I turn it off and give her a treat. Highly recommended! Update 10/10/20: My cat has not gotten bored with this at all. The base is sturdy. We turn it on several times a day, when she crouches outside the box because she is ready to “hunt”. Since purchase we have changed the batteries only 4 times. I bought refill butterflies with the toy, because one reviewer wrote he replaces the butterfly weekly: I don’t need to. The butterfly Is worn and torn, it’s now just a piece of shiny, fluttering plastic. As long as the shiny plastic keeps fluttering erratically on it’s wire, my cat will continue to attack it. She swats and stares at it, several times a day, occasionally batts at it, trying to get it to move. When I catch her at this, I turn it on and she’s back on the hunt, batting, pouncing, holding the wire down, chewing in the butterfly, then letting go so she can have another round. Every couple of days she hold the wire down so long she flattens it at the base and it won’t spin. I remove the butterfly unit, straiten the wire with needle nose pliers, and put it back in place. She follows me and reaches for it as I do this. When I put it back on the unit in spin position, and she returns to attacking, playing with, chewing on and eventually killing (stopping the movement of) her prey. I imagine she will eventually rip up and shred the butterfly so completely it comes off the wire. At that point I will replace the butterfly, but it is so firmly attached to the wire, it won’t be anytime soon. Even more highly recommended than when last posted. ## Features - Interactive Cat Toy for Engaging Play: This butterfly teaser toy is designed to ignite your cat’s natural hunting instincts, providing rewarding and interactive playtime sessions. The fluttering butterfly entices your kitty to chase and pounce, turning every moment into an exciting adventure that satisfies their predatory urges. - 360° Spinning Butterfly for Endless Fun: The toy features a 360-degree rotating butterfly that mimics the unpredictable movement of real prey. Get either a dull butter knife to gently lift out the small circular plastic piece and then install brand new butterfly replacement You can’t take just the butterfly off by itself you need to buy the butterfly replacement pack and install new butterfly wire stem piece each time butterfly becomes worn out and torn up by kitty . **Q: Doesn't work unless upside down. Any suggestions on fixing it?** A: ?? The whole thing upside down? Sorry, have never had any kind of problem with mine nor one I got for a friend. Can't even guess what might be wrong. Maybe recheck the batteries? Sorry, no help. **Q: What type of batteries does this use? i've seen both aa and aaa mentioned in the reviews.** A: This used AA batteries. Great toy! **Q: Does anyone’s cats like playing with it even if it is powered off? Do they enjoy just batting at the butterfly or does it need to be on to be enjoyed?** A: I asked my cat. She enjoys playing with it as it flutters and rotates through her space. However, she will play with it when she provides the energy which propels the butterfly. Not as much challenge but a chance to control flight. My cat loves to be in control. I do monitor her behavior to be sure she does not eat the butterfly ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super cool *by A***Y on October 17, 2026* This was a huge hit with our cat! It was super easy to set up, and came with a small screwdriver to get the batteries in which appreciated. Once we found some batteries that actually work, they really enjoyed the toy. I gave it four stars because it would be great if it turned off after a certain amount of time. Also. The wire that it’s on bends very easily. So after a few hours of play, it’s basically just going around on the ground. It does come with another butterfly, so that’s good. Overall it’s worth it for me to provide some entertainment for the cats. And I am not going to lie, it’s been fun to watch them watch it and play. It even works for entertainment when it’s not on as they can still bat it around. ## Frequently Bought Together - All for Paws Cat Toys Interactive Butterfly Flutter Bug Cat Automatic Toy Stimulating Kitty Toys Enrichment for Indoor Cats - ALL FOR PAWS Interactive Cat Butterfly Flutter Replacements for Kitty Enrichment Spinner Toys, Re-Fill - 6 Pack - ALL FOR PAWS Butterfly Replacements for Automatic Cat Toys, Realistic Fluttering Butterfly, Upgraded Fabric Material for Durable and Continuous Play and Bat, Safe for Indoor Cats, 2Pack (Butterfly) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/134827791-cat-toys-interactive-butterfly-flutter-bug-cat-automatic-toy-stimulating](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/134827791-cat-toys-interactive-butterfly-flutter-bug-cat-automatic-toy-stimulating) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
