Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad [Thomas, Gordon] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad Review: A very good book! Enjoy it a lot. - Still in the process of reading but wow is it informative and a great book! You can see why the nation of Israel is so dependent on the Mossad because their very existence depends on their effectiveness. A nation that is smaller than most states in the U.S. who is surrounded by nations that hate them and think they have no right to exist needs to have a top notch intelligence service which they most assuredly have. They truly are a marvel and their intelligence agency is second to none. They will stop at nothing to accomplish what needs to get done is very evident from the first part of the book I have read. I sure would not want to be on their bad side or have a target on my back with them closing in on me. I would make sure I have my affairs set and my life insurance paid up and probably not see them coming. Some of the stories I have read are chilling indeed. But I am in the place in the book that some of the former Mossad agents have claimed that corruption has infiltrated the Mossad and there are concerns that they have slipped in their effectiveness according to some. It will be interesting to see what the book further states as I continue reading. The history of the Mossad which I have been reading about was so interesting and it would truly be a sad state of affairs if some of the claims being made are true. Regardless though, the Mossad is definitely someone to be reckoned with! Review: Gideon Spies - A very intriguing and interesting book about the founding and operation of Missed of the greatest Intel leave dies in the world. Thomas did and excellent job collecting stories and first hand info reform the pkayers. I look forward to his book on MI5 MI6

I spy, you spy, we all spy
I would classify this book as a "popular history" of the Mossad. The author is a journalist and the book is written in that style. It lacks the complete disclosure of sources that one would find in a more scholarly work. Putting this aside, it is very interesting and easy to read history of Mossad and the key players in Israel's intelligence community. Of great interest is the cooperation between Mossad and the intelligence agencies of other countries, some of which might come as surprise to readers. The time line is sometimes hard to follow as the author sometimes switches between various, occasionally unrelated incidents, events or operations. All in all though, a good read. I liked it.

Excellent condition
I already had a copy of this book for many years. Mine has gotten old through repeated use. This book in general is in the top 5 most favorite ones for me. My old volume is in much, much worse state than the one I purchased this time. And would classify this purchase as Used - Very much like new. It is unmarked, pages and jacket are not creased. Very happy with this purchase, especially with the price given uts excellent condition.

Three Stars
Interesting, but the stories just jump around all the time, it is hard to keep track.

Pulls no punches
Fascinating (and long - 800 pages) read. Does not glorify, details failures as well as successes, probably the best NF book I've read in the last 10 years (and I read a lot), highly recommended, I will now buy some of his other works and hope they are as good as this.

This is a good history book that reads like a thriller. At times the chapters look disconnected because they were put together from different articles… this could have been edited. Anyway- hugely documented book with lots of interest.
