One of the greatest movies ever
This film is a must see or must have for anyone who loves gals who speak their minds and live their lives without convention. Great soundtrack too.

Light, Bright Fun
They used to make movies like these in the old days: self-absorbed socialite is forced to take an unlikely job to maintain her dizzy lifestyle and learns valuable lessons about Life. The movie was more about the journey than the destination and depended on the charm of the leading actor and a strong supporting cast to pull it off. So it is with this little indie gem. Of course since it was made in the 90s, not the 30s, it takes liberties with sex, drugs and language but it's the same story. Like those oldies this one is carried by a delightful Parker Posey who radiates a funny, poignant charm in every scene. Her supporting actors are all strong and the featherweight story zips along at a snappy pace. It's all in fun and a fine entertainment that holds up well all these years later -- like the very old ones that came before.

Neat little indie from the mid 90s
Parker Posey in true form from her indie beginnings. The film is a little rough around the edges, but in such a charming way.The only issue is that the streaming version looks like it was transferred at a frame rate lower than 24fps. This has the effect of the whole film look like it was shot under a strobe light. don't know if Amazon can do anything about this, but it would make the film more enjoyable to see it run smoothly...

You had me at he-he-hellloooo
I mourn the loss of this incarnation of New York. Party Girl has it all; falafels with a side order of babaganoush, iconic drag queens, underground paries in China Town, rotary phones, the Dewey Decimal System and LIBRARIANS.

Not much of comedy.
A little inconsistent in pacing but a decent watch.

Begging for a modern release
five stars for the movie, but the DVD releases leave a lot to be desired. First off, do not buy the 1995 edition. The encoding on that disc is on par with the VHS or Laserdisc versions (no exaggeration). I also have the 2002 DVD and the quality is much improved, to the point that it's watchable. I have to assume this is the same encoding that is on the 2003 DVD, though I can't say for sure. It's still not great, and not even close to modern DVD release quality. Also, the 2002 DVD claims to have a director commentary and "previews and trailers" on the back of the case, but that is absent on the disc.No widescreen version of this exists anywhere either, which is a real shame. This film is begging for a new release, either on anamorphic DVD or (with any luck) Blu-Ray.

Favorite NYC 90's movie ever!
This is Parker Posey's first film. She is so cute and so funny and does such a perfect job portraying "that girl" who was a staple of the early 90's club scene. This movie is such a timely tribute to the long-gone underground house music parties that made Manhattan so much fun.

90’s Posey
This is one of my favorite films from the 90’s. You have Parker Posey dancing in the best fashion while learning the Dewey Decimal system. I wanted to work at a library after watching this as a kid. There is nobody more magical in this world than Parker Posey.

If quirky is your thing
I love Parker Posey and will watch anything she is in. She also tends to go for quirky stories, which this one is. And it works. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but worked for me.

Classic Parker
It's all about Parker Posey. If you follow her, Party Girl is a must see collectable. If anybody else had taken Parker's role, maybe not so special, but still worth a watch.
