Mary Chapin Carpenter: Jubilee - Live at Wolf Trap [DVD]

This was a great concert! MCC and her band were perfect in every way. There were a few songs that were slightly interrupted at the beginning by her lead in voice over's, but all in all- a great DVD to have. We are huge fans of Mary Chapin Carpenter and this did not disappoint!

I felt compelled to rewrite my earlier review because people are using review titles like "Wasted money" and "Disappointed" when they are upset about the DVD format being PAL instead of NTSC. I love this DVD and a while back, Amazon was selling these for about $10.00 each brand new. A steal, right? If my memory is correct, Amazon mislabeled their crop of these DVD's as NTSC. I bought three copies because I was so thrilled at finding them new for such a price, and they were all in the PAL format. Mary Chapin Carpenter is the best songwriter alive I believe, and this DVD is really very good. But so that everyone knows, the way to be sure that you are getting it in the North American, NTSC format is to check the back of the DVD case and look for five lines of fine print at the bottom of the DVD case. Five lines of fine print, instead of three lines, means that you have the NTSC format. If you are a Mary Chapin fan, please don't hesitate to buy this DVD but ask the seller first to check the DVD case. I have never found a copy of this DVD that comes out and tells you on the case what format it is in, so you have to go by the number of printed lines at the bottom of DVD case.

I wish she would release a new live DVD but until she does if you are a fan buy this I saw this tour in Philadelphia and she was awesome.The video has short interviews before most of the songs that I thought would detract but they aid in understanding the process she goes thru as a songwriter She was in command and in great voice for this set

MCC at the height of her popularity. I would like to see it re-released on bluray for better picture quality.

Mary Chapin Carpenter, the DVD at Wolftrap is a 'must have' for any of her fans...full of great music and interviews with Mary, Shawn Colvin, Joan Baez, and her mentor/friend John Jennings.You will not be disappointed!

Wenn auch diese Aufnahme schon mehr als 10 Jahre alt ist, so ist es doch technisch hervorragend, prima Sound und vorallem eine sehr schöne Zusammenstellung vieler bekannter Songs.Zwischenzeitlich erscheint es einem etwas zu ruhig aber gegen Ende des Konzerts kommen auch noch ein paar Up-Tempo-Lieder die das wieder rausreissen. Sehr zu empfehlen. Ungewöhnlich allein die Tatsache, das die DVD von beiden Seiten bespielt ist, d.h., man muss die Scheibe zur Hälfte wirklich umdrehen !!!

Un très bon dvd qui met bien en valeur le talent de Mary Chapin Carpenter.Un petit moins tout de même, les chansons sont entrecoupées par Mary qui nous raconte ses souvenirs et elle est très bavarde! Mais c'est un très bon concert qui ravira ses fans.

これは大当たり！　映像は4:3画面だがかなりいい！　音声はD.D 5.1chと分離もしかっりしている。　ただ、Ａ面51:44、Ｂ面35:55と両面収録なので、ライヴの途中でひっくり返さなければならない。　レーザーディスク時代を思い出す。　しかし、彼女のことは全く知らなかったけど驚きの最高の内容。　バックバンドも最高。　文句なしの☆五つ。

説得力という点では抜群のボーカルを聞かせる彼女、特にしっとりとした曲のボーカルは格別です。自信満々、押しの強さが鼻につくという方もいますがアメリカ的なドライなボーカルはカントリーチャートでも人気があります。このＤＶＤはコンサートの模様をとらえたものですが、ちょっとだけ見れるオフ・ステージの表情のナチュラルさにとても魅力を感じました。本質的にはフォークなのでもっとフォークして欲しいし、切り口を変えればもっと素晴らしい作品が作れるアーティストだと思います。なお、クレジットにあるジョン・バエズとのデュエットはちょっとだけです。リージョンフリー。
