Here's the deal with these speakers...
The media could not be loaded. 6.5" version here. The tweeter and woofer are actually quite good, capable of nice sound. However, the there are some things to know. Out of the box they sound ok, but the bass and mids are a little bit "sloppy". Not bad, but not really good and crisp, if that makes sense. You can lay on the volume without distortion, if that's what you want to do.Construction is ok, not awesome. These are built to a price point. MDF and nice magnetic covers. No big gaps or anything like that, but you can tell it's not a $300 speaker. No issues at all, just not super pretty if you like to look at the cabinet a lot. I didn't buy them for looks so it doesn't bother me, I want performance. All I see are the front grills, anyway, so who cares...Here's the good stuff. As I said the tweeter and woofer are capable, just not great sounding out of the box. But the fix is really, really easy. Unscrew the woofer, you'll find some silly polyfill in the cabinet, take it out. I went to walmart and in the fabric aisle I bought a "premium high density" seat cusion foam for under $7. This is not loose stuffing, it is 2" thick high density foam. Cut two sections, 6.5" x 4.5" each, and put them in the speaker above and below the speaker wire terminal cup. Make sure it sits flush with the back wall and all the way into the corners. Kinda wadded the polyfill and put it back in behind where the woofer would be. Put the woofer back in place and screw it into place tight but not too firm. Repeat for the other speaker. Total time for both speakers is about 10-15 minutes to do this.Quick note: no crossover inside, just a filter/capacitor on the tweeter wire (no idea the specs on it). I had ordered crossovers to put in these to get the most out of the tweeter/woofer, but after the mod I cancelled the order, it just wasn't necessary. The result? Wonderful! At least to my ears. Lows are low (gonna get all the bass for 90% of music unless you need to vibrate the floor), mids are very present and highs are clean and clear. That high density foam is really good at absorbing "stray" sound bouncing around inside the box and muddying up the sound. It really makes the tweeter and woofer come alive, things are clearer and cleaner. You feel like you spent $50 on $100+ speakers instead of $30 speakers. Potential realized. Using them for my computer desktop speakers driven by a Kinter Tripath K2020A+ mini amp (cheap on amazon, like $30???). Much better than any "computer speakers" I've ever heard, including 2.1 systems. If you have the desk space for these, I recommend them. You'll be happy with them. Could easily use them for most any casual listening or part of a surround system. They'd be ok out of the box, but really nice after the 10 minute, $7 mod.By the way, always tweak to your taste with your equalizer if you have one, most phones/computers have one built in. My description above was no EQ at all. Still, even without using the EQ, these sound pretty darn good after the mod. Rockville put money into the tweeter/woofer and MDF cabinet, not the overall fit and finish.EDIT: A few days later and I added a video of these things. Hopefully this phone mic is good enough to do them justice. Listen with headphones or at least a 2.1 speaker system.Another EDIT: I listened to my video here and the bass doesn't sound good at all. It's NOT the speakers, it's the lousy phone mic recording the video. Don't be put off by the sound, it really is nice after the foam mod I described in my review. Before the mod it was ok, after was much better. I had reservations about Rockville stuff before buying, but I'm more than pleased with these.

Good looing, great value
More than adequate for my surround sound AV Receiver. Crisp sound and nice asthetics for my mid century modern decor. Love the removeable cloth grills for a bolder look as well.

Poor speakers need help! A project speaker??
I was looking for a small 6.5" sealed cabinet design for my work shop. I like the acoustic suspension design using a smallish cabinet and the woodgrain covering looks pretty good. The magnetic grill is awesome, the Kevlar woofer is trick and it has 5 way binding posts. Well that is about it.It has a simple capacitor on the tweeter. No 2 way crossover. A mis-cut and smallish piece of polyfil is inside. The small magnet tweeter is just placed in the hole and screwed down with screws at haphazard angles. Same for the woofer. No seals on the rear plastic binding post housing or the woofer or tweeter. major air leakage. The cabinet front baffle is attached with minimal glue with absolutely no fillets or bracing on the inside.Hey, let's make a speaker with cheap materials and slap it together in China and that will be good enough. That is surely what it seems like Rockville did. Really as is they are a $25 pair of speakers. Hmm.Well, I am not gonna let this speaker sit around unused or be returned, because that is just what will happen if I don't fix it. A challenge? Sure, I spent another $70 and over 4 hours to do so. It can surely be better! Let's do it!I installed the small Douk 2 way crossovers using short 4-40 machine screws. Funny, the binding post housing has molded standoffs to accomodate a crossover board and the bolt spacing fit the Douk crossovers perfectly!I installed Goldwood 510 1" tweeters. Sure, I had to inlet the 4.075" OD tweeters right at 0.275". Easy with a router, template bit and a home made plywood template.I used thixotropic epoxy to create a nice fillet on all inside corners of the cabinet.I added 1/16" foam tape to the speaker openings and rear binding post housing.I loosely filled the entire cabinet with polyfil.I silver soldered all connections and installed all components using new black pan heads screws designed to be used with MDF.OK, Wow, what a difference!I actually like these speakers now. They do sound very good with decent controlled bass response and nice highs with a decent midrange. MUCH better than before!Like I thought, these are really just sad speakers looking for someone to save them!! See "after" pics.

Rockville Audio will continue to be my go to audio
This pair was used with some older audio stuff I had. Yamaha M-70 250watt amp and aAtoll PR 200 preamp for my Grandson’sX-Box one.He absolutely loved it.I bought a Rockville Audio 10 inch powered Sub to go with them. For less then $200 total for speakers there is no sound bar that is going to come close to this setup.Great Sound and a unheard of low price.Do not let the low price worry you.Get a pair add a Rockville Audio 10 inch powered sub and enjoy.Everyone who has heard this system has been blown away.I have been in Hi End audio for over 35 years. These speaker are worthy of the best front end Amp and Preamp you can put in front of them. The M-70 amp was $1,500.00 when new,and theAtoll PR200 preamp was $2,500 new.

Great sound for bookshelf speaker

Almost perfect
Love the sound look and the quality of these speakers and would definitely buy them again. The only complaint is that 2 of the speaker grills came glued together at the logo. I'm not sure how it happened. It's not a huge deal but disappointing and I can't seem to get the glue off.

Decent for music, not great for tv.
Decent for music, not great for tv as sound isn't very crisp making voices hard to understand.
