For the people saying this gasket does not work should not be changing their valve cover gasket.VW molded the gasket to the valve cover so when it goes bad you need to replace the whole valve cover.This give you the option to replace the gasket. That being said. You have to removed the molded gasket.What I found that works for me was to use a razor and cut the gasket flush with the valve cover. Then heat it from the bottom and then scrap the big stuff off. Then go through and wire brush the rest or wire wheel it off.I have not installed it yet. After I do and I have no leaks ill update it to 5 stars. 11/24/25Installed it with glue and i have no leaks

Perfect fit. Parts stores recommend RTV blue. Gasket so much better.

Had to trim one of the grooves on the gasket to get a good fit. Gasket worked great but what a pita to get the old one off. I took out the plastic insert inside the valve cover, and used a map torch to heat up the top side and scraped out the old gasket with a flatbread and used a dremmel to clean the little stuff out. I rtv’d then stuck the gasket it and it went it really easy. Out of 100% 10% of my time was disassembly, 80% preparation for new gasket, 10% assembly

Came on time and meets quality expectations...For those attempting to install a gasket on this VW valve cover, this is the approach. To prevent gasket blowout, use a rubber to metal adhesive sealant approved for engine service work. There are areas of the gasket that are vulnerable to weakening or shifting out of position from internal pressure. I gave this my best shot, and if the gasket fails/leaks in a short period, I'll purchase the expensive OEM VW valve cover with built-in factory gasket. Currently, VW appears to be the only source for an OEM-style 1.9L TDI valve cover with a built-in gasket.

If your Volkswagen is a diesel with the engine code ALH don’t bother buying this piece of junk, It’s the only valve cover with the gasket built in. Unless you wanna waste your time destroying the valve cover to try to get this blue then… DONT BUY THIS OR SEND BACK AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! You’re going to need a whole new valve cover to fix this issue

it fits. Note VW glues the old one in so be ready to spend some time cleaning up the groove. also get some glue to glue it in before installing.

Was in a tiny ball making it not usable

It came crumpled in a ball, had to have 3 people hold it down on the valve cover to keep it from going back into a big wad. However the quality is great, it got rid of my valve cover leak.
