Cute as a Bug in a Rug
I got these for my 4 yr old daughter for Christmas, and we really enjoyed them. She's a budding artist, and has every craft supply imaginable. We've also done a TON of little kits. I'd say this rates in the top 3 kits we've done. She didn't get bored, I didn't end up doing the whole thing while she watched, and they turn out really cute. We are going to hang them from the ceiling in her playroom. I really like that all the bugs are packaged individually. It makes it easy to grab a bag and start working. Tips: Use a stapler for the plates and other parts. The glue stick doesn't work very well at all. I also used Elmer's when possible. I wasn't sure what to do with the sheet of circle and bar stickers, so I ended up using them to help attach pieces. For example, the buttons as the top of antennas were taped to the Popsicle stick, and the caterpillar legs were taped on the back of the plate. All in all a good project I'd recommend.

Lots of fun and bonding with my 2 1/2 year old
My daughter loved doing these projects. I must tell you that the glue stick is not very good. I did have my daughter use it though for practice and I added liquid glue when she was done. Each project used at least one new decorating skill from the others. Also note that the directions may be on the bottom of the box and an extra set of stickers to reinforce the gluing. I liked that each projects materials were packaged individually. Made it easy to bring the caterpillar project to our campsite. I was able to keep my daughter quiet while my Mom was still sleeping. My daughter was able to create each bug in her own way. She asked everyday to do a new one. Some took two sessions. The bee is hanging in our dining room. The butterfly is on our front door. My daughter points them out to visitors that she made them and will have full conversations about them. We have since bought the tissue paper/ sticker box and are working our way through it. I bought the craft bucket for a birthday gift for her friend. Definitely worth the money and time spent making them.

So cute
I had read other reviews of this product before purchasing this for my 3 year granddaughter. So I knew ahead of time that I would probably need some tape, a small child's stapler, and maybe more glue sticks. All of which I bought to include with the present. That's no big deal and that being said, I loved this! Making these paperplate bugs with the 3 year old was fun and easy. The product is very user-friendly for "little hands." The perforated pieces can be easily separated and the picture directions can be easily "read" and followed. The resulting creations are really adorable! We hung them up all over the house! Although a young child can do it on their own, I recommend it as a great activity to do together with a young child for some really nice, creative time together.

I LOVE the product, Paper Bugs, so engaging and appropriate for preschoolers-
I used this with my grandchildren and will use it with others (ages 3 thru 5) when I go to Dallas. The packaging was great, the picture directions helpful to the young children, the items colorful and fun. They loved it and were able to figure out the construction and which pieces they needed for each project. The one thing with which I am NOTsatisfied is the GLUE. It was ineffective and made it difficult to work with preschoolers when it failed to hold. I realize the problem of finding a non-toxic glue for use with children but would hope to find something as effective as rubber cement, but which is non-toxic. (When I was teaching, rubber cement was used in the elementary classroom as well as in college art classes; I realize that may have changed with the increasing awareness of toxicity in various products.

Whole lotta fun in this box!
Purchased for my 4 year-old grandson who is right now big into crafting things. This box kept us busy for a whole week! The materials included are nice quality, and just the right amount, which is to say we didn't run out of anything and we didn't have too many leftovers. The instructions were fairly easy, but we could have used some more coaching on how to use the adhesive strips provided. We didn't understand the difference between stickers and sticky adhesive strips and dots right away, so ended up using some of our own tape in places, and we probably would not have had to. BUT, the results were big and bright and bold and beautiful! 4 year-old could do almost everything by himself, but Grandma hovered so his 2 year-old sister could help do a few things too, and because the projects were just plain fun! These were great to display because they turned out so well. They would make a wonderful activity for a kids' party. Definitely recommend!

Excellent kits, no extra supplies needed
These are seriously cute and really well done. I'm recuperating from surgery at home with a four-year-old, and he had major cabin fever. I went online and ordered several craft kits from Amazon. So far, this is my favorite. It's especially well thought out...here's why: -it contains five bug "kits", already presorted and separated per bug. That's cool because instead of a mass of parts in a box, you can take out one kit and not sort and count pieces (and lose them). -everything is pre-cut and included. You don't need scissors or tape or anything-glue is included and there's no risk of cutting something out wrong. And no need for a preschooler to have scissor skills either. -most of the items are stickers so you don't have a long wait for glue to dry (except on the antennas). -the time it takes is about 20-30 minutes for a relaxed project where the kid does all the work...not too long and not so short they are still bored. If you were to do a kid party, this could be a great activity, but in that case I think you'd want everyone doing the SAME bug (for sanity's sake). It would be difficult to have five kids doing this at once with all different bugs. My only suggestions for improvement would be that some parts (mainly the buttons) are too heavy for stick glue, so they could have used a cardboard piece and it would have been sturdier. Also, the instructions are picture only and could be a little more explained for mommy's on painkillers (i.e. put the eyelashes on the bee before the eyes!) Because this is so well planned and easy to use, I plan to buy more of this company's products. I bought the Collage farm but that hasn't been opened yet.

I think this is great. Some other reviewers wrote that it's not worth ...
I think this is great. Some other reviewers wrote that it's not worth $9 - I think it totally is a great deal!! If you aren't super crafty by nature, like myself, this is a fun thing to do with 2-3 year olds. I mean, I don't think expectations should be set too high with something like this to begin with. Mine were set low, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many materials were packed into this box. If you went to a craft store and tried to purchase this amount of stuff on your own, you'd pay way more. Again, if you are one of those super crafty people to begin with, who has tons of cool crafty art supplies for kids stuffed in your closets and drawers, then I get it, you might be a bit more critical. Yes, the glue stick doesn't hold the pom poms on, nor does it hold the pipe cleaners on, but some tape or liquid glue will do just fine. I'm sure we all have tape or glue laying around :). I think this is a winner for a $10 gift for someone!

Glue stick = FAIL
I was disappointed in this kit after completing and loving all of the projects in the Alex "Ready, Set, Paste" kit. This kit had potential to be just as great, but it fell short. Glue sticks are quick and easy for little ones and was perfect for the paste kit, but these pieces are too big, heavy, or awkward to stick together with the glue provided. I had to re-glue every single item at least once for the 2 projects we have done so far. My almost 4 year old was getting frustrated because she couldn't get them to stick and had to keep asking me for help. I found the gluing somewhat difficult for myself so she could never have completed this on her own. Maybe stronger glue or some tape would have been a better adhesive option. Nonetheless, the idea is cute and I'm sure we can use the components with our own glue or tape. Not a total waste of time but could definitely use some improvement.
