Petmate 22701 Cat Litter Pan

I was looking for a litter box/pan that was short because I have an old cat with arthritis, and the poor thing seemed to have trouble climbing into my old litter box. The old litter box was much higher quality, sturdier and better constructed, but it was also fairly deep and hard for my aged cat to get into. This pan is the shallowest pan I could find online. Other reviewers said that their item was damaged in shipping, and so was mine. The way it is packaged causes it to warp. But I heated it up and bent it back into shape, and it's ok now.I think maybe if you wanted a shallow pan for the same reason I did, you would be better off to purchase 3 or 4 or more at once. They are very inexpensive, and the shipping charges are better with the higher numbers ordered. And I'm thinking that if you had 3 or 4 stacked together, they wouldn't get crushed or warped.

These boxes will be fine for what I ordered them for, which is baby animals (kittens and tiny puppies). I liked that they are shallow, and long, to give the critters easy access, and lots of room to use them. However, if you have a tough pet that likes to chew, or is rough with things, these are probably not for you. The plastic is very thin, so they will tear easily. They are also very cheaply made. There are rings melted on them from the press machine they were made in. Anyone who works with animals knows, if there are any rough spots, it will only encourage an animal to chew on it. Think about the animal that will be using it before you buy.

This pan fit 'perfectly' in a tight space I had... of about 12 3/8" w x 21" l. My only disappointment is that there the bottom doesn't lay entirely flat. There is a bit of a raised part that slightly pops up and down. I can't ask the cats what they think as they step on it; but they use the box which is the critical part.

They look nice and sturdy, like hard plastic in the pic. Get them in and they are flimsy.I ordered 9 to make a mouse rack for breeding mice. (It's pretty common for mouse breeders to use cat boxes as houses, in wooden racks.)Well...they don't work for that. I'm sure they are great for cats to poop in, but if you are making a mouse rack. stay away.

It's ok, but not long enough for my intended purpose... I need the inside length to be 20" and it's a little less. Other than that, it's a nice quality...

It's really not very rigid but the cost is low online compared to buying retail. Defects and bubbles are pretty obvious throughout the batch except for a few blues ones I got that seem to be a little stronger.

It's not a bad litter box, it's just really thin. When the litter is low the middle weirdly pops up. But for the price it is worth it. The cat uses it, so it can't be that bad.
