VELUX Roof Window Blackout Blind, Grey Guide Rail, C02, Grey

This is as advertised and the price is much less than buying from Velux. Now installed the product does it's job, no light gets through, it all fits together well, moves smoothly and looks good. The thing to be careful about is the installation. We were told by various sources that it would be easy to fit. The instructions are purely pictures and not always easy to understand. Having the right tools is important. It would be useful to have two people doing the job. I fitted two identical blinds on my own. The first took about an hour and was OK apart from one screw hole I put into the wrong place. The second took about half an hour due to knowing the process. Getting into the right position to be able to do the different aspects of the work isn't straightforward. Fitting some of the pieces together is quite fiddly, some trial and error until it came right, needs at least two hands. We have another one to do which will require being up a ladder. I don't fancy that, don't think I would be safe, will be getting professional to do it. You have to be able to reach the top of he window to pull the blind down with your hand, if this is not possible you can buy a pole with a fitting to pull it down but I don't know how well they work.

I wasn't sure whether I'd go for the OEM blinds at pretty hefty additional cost, but I thought I'd play safe since this is very visible in the room... Upon opening the packaging it looks very good quality, with the runners matching exactly with the existing window and other blinds which were fitted on other windows. READ THROUGH INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING OR PULLING ANYTHIN APART!!!- real important or you could pull apart things which will make installation much much more difficult!! The instructions have no words but fairly easy to follow basically:- - Pushing in top blind section until it clicks on mounts which should already be present on the velux. (If they're not present, there's a bag with a ? on it which provides two substitute clips. I didn't realise this at first and was scratching my head what to do with these at the end!) I had to give it a bit of a gentle bang to get it to clip into place. DONT take off the red bits yet! - Using the provided buttom clips, screw those into place using provided torx screws and torx screwdriver. (Note not to use the clips I mentioned above which are bigger and use the 2-3 philips screws in a bag) - Take the side metal runners and slide them in each side. Before sure they're slide firmly into place at the top before you clip them at the bottom. Hint if you get it wrong, unscrew the torx screw on the bottom clips rather than trying to force the thing out of the clip and potentially breaking the clip. - Once in place, screw the torx screws into the holes along the runners on each side. The torx screw driver should be adequate to screw into the velux wood without need to drill holes. - Pull off the red circles to unroll the cords and then pull out the grey plastic cordends and pull them down to the bottom clips. You'll need to gently stretch them for a moment at you get them to clip into place. - Now at the top take off the red retaining clips at the top and you should be able to pull the blind down - done! Installation took me about 20-30 minutes with careful reading of the instructions. Once done I'm very happy with the results. At £73 vs around £40 for a non-OEM one it's a hefty difference in price. However seeing the quality of this product, and the finish the materials, it's a premium I'm happy to pay for. I'll see over time and update in due course as I use these...

Follow the instructions carefully and you will be able to fit these blackout blinds to your veux windows in less than 20 minutes. Once fitted, you should have perfectly functioning fit for purpose blinds for years and years. High quality and worth the money.

The blind arrived securely packaged in a Velux brand box. It was easy to install. This blind eliminates all light through the window and lives up to the claim of being blackout blind.

Overall is ok and easy to install. But for the money I paid, I expected better quality. The product I received has an uneven bottom.

Excellent build quality and very easy to install with the included instructions. I think it took me around 30 minutes. It does keep the room warmer when it’s cold outside, but you do have to be careful if the sun is shining on the window and the blind is closed as the window itself can get very hot in summer. It’s very easy to open and close the blind as it runs very freely and doesn’t stick.

UPDATE The material used for these blinds is much thinner than the ones I replaced, which were 25+ years old, there is a very slight ruckling effect at the vertical edges, I assume due to the thinness of the material, not sure they will last as long as the previous ones, have contacted Velux to see what they say. I was quite worried buying these, as they are 50% more expensive from Velux, so I thought these can’t be genuine. The seller emailed me and confirmed they are genuine. So I ordered them, YES they ARE genuine VELUX. Follow the instructions exactly and it’s a piece of cake. The only difficulty I had was attaching the cord to the bottom bracket, one blind was rather tight, but I took my time and it worked fine. The second blind I ordered ( have two identical windows ) had a slightly longer cord, so was much easier. They really do look the business, so smart and Totally blacks out All light. Can’t recommend them high enough, IMO it’s not worth getting Imitation Velux blinds, the quality of these is outstanding. The packaging was 100% secure Spare screws are Included, not that you will need them, plus new top brackets are also included, just in case the ones on the window are broken or missing.....comes with a small spline screwdriver for the special screws, which makes screwing them in a breeze.... I fitted 2 x GGL6 black blackout blinds.

Ma perché non l'ho presa prima !!! Installazione facile e veloce, bella da vedere e fa il suo dovere al 100%. Messa nel bagno, ora provvederò anche per la camera da letto dove c'è già la persiana elettrica ma anche qst tenda ci sta moooolto bene!
