Gears 5 Ultimate Edition – Xbox One

I love this game... the campaign is great, amazing visuals and story. I love Kait being the main character of the series now, her back story being discovered adds a lot of depth and ties in amazingly with the lore. The game does well in having Kait's story be the main focus while not interfering with the classic Gears feel. There are side quests and the world is more open, with different main areas throughout the stoey to explore and unique weapons with special abilotoes to find, as well as upgrades for your robot companion, which also can be apllied to Kait and Del (secondary character) as well, such as a cloaking ability for stealth play. There is plenty of action and fighting, as well as some horror elements to certain chapters of the game. All of the modes are fun, however the options for offline mode are limited. Offline, you can play the campaign split screen with up to 3 people (yourself and one or 2 friends) or solo. You can do versus with offline like this as well, with bots taking the empty player slots. However, escape mode and horde mode require an online connection even for solo play. The tour of duty system (which let's you earn points for unlocking new skins and customization items) not only requires online connection, but requires you to play public games to rank up and unlock things. And despite campaign and versus being available split screen offline, you are not able to do LAN games at all. Despite some of the flaws of offline/online/tour of duty system, this is a really wonderful game with a great story and great characters, and is a welcome addition to the Gears series!

I have been a huge fan of the Gears of War series since release. I knew when seeing previews for the the first one before the xbox 360 came out that it was going to be game I had to play and I was not wrong. I have always picked up every gears on day one and enjoyed all of them even enjoyed judgement to a certain degree. Gears 5 feels like Gears always had but changed some things just enough to make it feel fresh. The campaign is fantastic with a lot to do to keep you busy, multiplayer is excellent even though it took me a few matches to get used to the time to kill (it seems shorter now compared to past games). I have not tried horde yet but I did play my first match of escape and that was a lot of fun and I will sink some more time into it. Xbox has not had a great exclusive this generation, they have had good ones but nothing great. Gears 5 is great and in my opinion a strong game of the year contender (anthem will probably get that honor lol.....just kidding).

I actually really enjoyed this game enough to buy it after playing it on Game Pass just to add it to the collection. I still wish there were no robots. I feel like they don't match the setting and world of Gears of War. If you love GoW, I highly recommend Gears 5. I don't want to spoil anything, but the robots are no where near as prevalent.

My boyfriend finished the game within a month of purchasing it for him, if you want your partner to stay home and not be cheating this is the perfect bait for that.. lol. My one complaint would be the game was really short only had a few chapters to play but the quality of the visuals was super cool!! I even got to play :)

Amazing game the campaign is awesome very fun reminds me of gears of war 1 also Im playing coop with my brother we both bought the ultimate edition it was a must since we are both huge gears of war fans also the multiplayer is really fun just one thing I had a problem with the multiplayer my teammates DO NOT work together maybe every 3rd match I will get a team that WORKS TOGETHER lol but other than that AWESOME GAME Good job Xbox studios

*Sighs* So, Coalition studio, even though they can look at Pre-order numbers, SOMEHOW, under-estimated demand for a game, that is #5 in the series. Like it was an accident or something? So they have been having "server side issues" like every other game that's released here recently. (Anthem comes to mind)So here's my review, short & sweet:Online Aspect, sucks. To even play the campaign, you need to be online. If you can't connect to Xbox Live, your SOL.Since human kind is-fallible, & no one is perfect, definitely not our internet in the U.S., DEFINITELY not XboxLive.Coalition studio should have just made the game, so you can at least play Horde & Campaign offline, with no issues. The game would just record your stats, then upload em once you did have access to the servers. Build this offline component into the game, so it isn't a pretty brick when the internet doesn't work. When servers don't work, whether on PC, or Xbox.The Actual game itself, is really solid. As far as gunplay, & how your characters control. The one Vehicle you get to drive in the game, handles really well. for the most part.Aesthetics wise, in the game are hit & miss. For the most part, things looks really good. But at the same time if you have an eye for detail, you'll notice where environmental artist/texture artist, were seriously slacking.Some of the Horde maps though have really caught my eye. They look amazing.Story: The story is not good. I obviously don't want to spoil anything. But I love to read, & I know a good story from a bad story. A lot of the book's I've read, that I'd give a bad rating because the way the story was set up, I'd do the same for this game. The reason its no good, is because death is used as too big an enemy, right up their with the swarm. Like whoever the director was, was waving the "death flag" around like they just don't care! (Which will be obvious if you play the game)When something like that is used, willy nilly... it loses its effect as a tool for getting empathy from the player, & instead becomes frustrating, annoying, etc.Horde Mode: Ol, Rod.F. Done went & screwed it all up. Instead of playing the class you want. The character you want. Because that makes too much sense... You just get kicked to whatever under leveled character the game feels like putting you in. Its horrible.For that last one, & that last one alone. I give the game 2 stars. It pains me as a fan of the series. But they took 0 steps forward, & 3 backwards. If the "Abilities" actually were useful & recharged at the time of this review, at a decent rate of speed.. I could say they took 1 step forward.I might give an update after this game gets some tweaks or something. & re-rate.I have a friend that's just stuck with Gears 3. Because he considers it the cream of the crop. I'd have to say, I agree.

Another fun installment In the Gears of War genre. Wasn’t my absolute favorite compared to the 1-4 (technically 5 if you count judgement) but it still featured a meaty campaign and a different-but-fun horde mode. Was severely disappointed in the massive failure of servers during the promised early access. I couldn’t even play private campaign with my buddy and we’ve been Gears of War fans since the beginning.

日本の本体でも起動するし日本語字幕に勝手に切り替わってますよ(^_^)音声は、英語です！相変わらず映像が凄いです凄すぎて酔ってしまいました(@_@)Ultimate Editionなのでケースは、プラ製では、無くてスチール製でしたカッコいい(￣ー￣)b気になった点は、何故かディスクデータは、700MBでネットダウンロードが70GBなのでダウンロードに時間が係ります！普通ブルーレイディスクデータ70GBなのでは、と思うんですが何ででしようか？それなりのネットワーク環境が無いとキツい！でもグロテスク&映像&ゲームが良いので星満点にしました内容は、前作4の続編ですね！グロテスク表現も規制が無いです(ありなしで切り替え可能)

日本版も規制が少ないということでしたが、可能性として規制される可能性はあるので、今回は海外版を買いました。規制についても問題ないですし。日本語字幕にもしっかり対応してました。　ヘイローとのコラボが燃えます！
