My story
Let me tell you exactly what happend to me. I've wanted this set for a while, the only place I could reliably get one seemed to be on Amazon. So I decided to buy one. From New York to Sweden, it literally only took about three weeks to get it. I was really impressed with that. The box was however slightly damaged on a corner and one of the lego bags inside was a little torn. I found a few pieces lying loose in the box, but it wasn't a big deal, all the pieces were still there. Now about the product! The UCS Slave 1 is an incredible LEGO display model. It looks amazing, it's sturdy and it has become my favourite set by far. If you're buying this as a play-set (your intentions is to man-handle it/play around with it) you'll get dissapointed. I know the designer said it's meant to be both a display AND play-set. But it's just way to big and heavy. It's definitely sturdy enough for display, but it's not sturdy enough for playing around with. Dropping this thing will guarantee you a manhunt for lego pieces for a couple of hours. The building process went great! The instructions were clear and I didn't have any issues what so ever. It's definitely not the easiest set to build, but it's not the hardest either. Now about the price. It's expensive no doubt. Especially with the shipping price. But it really depends. I wouldn't recommend this to your kids, or if you're a new collector or just not that big of a fan. But IF you are a big fan of Star Wars/Boba Fett/Slave 1, IF you're looking for a display model (NOT A PLAY-SET) and IF you appreciate the shapes and details of the set. Then it is definitely worth it!

Wonderful, solid set that's fun to build and a joy to display!
First UCS that I've purchased! I haven't heard of them until now (regrettably), so I've missed out on quite a few nice Lego models over the last 10-15 years. That being said, the set looks great and it amazed me how they made the angles work via a technic frame with Lego plates over it. The base is very sturdy and can be gripped from the top and bottom without coming apart. This goes for pretty much any grip you could place on the thing (gingerly, of course - lots of pieces here). It was a joy to build and took about 8-9 hours at a leisurely pace with several breaks. There were no missing pieces, and there was no shortage of extra pieces included which was nice. I decided to purchase Slave 1 specifically because it is one of my favorite ships in the Star Wars universe for both its unique appearance, which this model captures perfectly, and for its use by a notorious bounty hunter. I own the Jango Fett Slave 1, which is a fun, "swoosh-able" model to play with, whereas this model I would say is more for display. It has some play features, but like I said - you'll probably elect to display this one. The figures, especially Boba Fett, are wonderful as well. Some owners have pointed to a small gap that appears on the side when on its display, but I take no issue with it, as there are many Lego sets with such gaps. The designer of this particular set, as well as Lego's engineers, know about it and have no issue with it either (referenced a Lego forum as well as YouTube). Honestly, I didn't notice it until reading about it on the Internet. Also, it seems that many people who have been displaying it for months and months have not noticed any increasing droop or warping. Good to know! Enough said, go buy it! You won't regret it!

FANTASTIC SET!
It took me approximately 6-7 hours total to put together, and I'm pretty sure I had a big goofy grin on my face the whole time. I had been dragging my feet on picking this one up, but I am so happy to finally have the Slave 1 on display. It is a very satisfying build from start to finish, and at no point did the steps ever really feel repetitive or tedious. I love the way the wings move as the ship goes from landing to flight mode, and the fact that Boba Fett's cockpit rotates as well (unfortunately this manual, unlike the automatic movement of the wings). The reveal of the hidden weapons on either side of the ship is fun, and both open smoothly. The included minifigures are fun additions, with Boba Fett and Han (complete with frozen-in-carbonite grimace) stealing the show. If I had to list a negative of this set, it's that stickers are included and need to be applied to get the full effect of the detailing on the ship. I realize this is something Lego has been doing for many years, but I'm just enough of a perfectionist to get paranoid that I've applied a sticker slightly off center... even if it's not going to be noticeable to anyone but me. Minor gripe aside, this set is great, and a worthy addition to the Ultimate Collector Series line. If you've been holding off on getting this one, just take the plunge! It's clear that the Lego designers put a lot of thought and love into creating this set. I can't imagine any Star Wars or Lego fan would regret it buying this.

Awesome looking Slave 1 set...
Recently got this Lego set as THE big Christmas present for my stepson. Obviously it had to be the big present based on the price tag alone. I can't believe how expensive these sets have gotten over the years. He was definitely happy to open it on Christmas morning and promptly spent the next 2-3 days working on putting it together whenever he got a chance to. To start, he's only 10 years old, while this set is marketed to the 14+ crowd. I would say that if your child has extensive experience with Lego sets, they shouldn't have too many issues putting it together. Occasionally I would "compact" it to make sure he had everything pushed together well. It fell apart on him once or twice prior to me doing this a few times throughout the assembly process. Other than a few minor asks for help, he was able to assemble it on his own. The set itself looks pretty awesome and it is HUGE. I'm not entirely sure where he's going to store and display it, but it might end up going on one of my shelves which I currently have video game memorabilia. After it's fully completed, it has a few neat moving parts that add to the effect, including the ability to see Han Solo encased in the carbonate slab. Overall, this is a really nice set, and it should be, because you are definitely paying for a quality product.

It's a good, solid build (though there are complaints about the ...
Considering I've been wanting this set ever since it was the version from the 90's, then again when it was released as Jango's Slave I, this is a big win for my collection. It's a good, solid build (though there are complaints about the bottom of the ship sagging over time, due to faulty stock connection, easy fix though) and a fun one too. Though it's not as big as most people think. only about half the size of the box it comes in. But the biggest reason I got it is because it is to scale for the minifigures. There isn't much play value in it, since it's mainly geared to the collectors, so it is REALLY detailed. The only two complaints I have are the 23 stickers (then again, who likes them?). Because stickers suck to put on right. And the other is that the cockpit doesn't rotate with the ship like the wings do. You have to open up the cockpit and manually rotate it. It IS an easy fix, similair to the issue above, just replace the black friction pins with grey frictionless. Though this doesn't come with any... Otherwise, it is definetly worth the money, looks cool, and the Boba Fett minifig is killer too, what with the printed arms.

I’m beyond proud to own this set.
so, the set is amazing. one of the best lego products around. the true mini figure scale and the attention to detail that the designer put into the set is immaculate. I had so much fun building the set and it’s one of the proudest things I own, and I display it loudly. now, the price is steep . incredibly incredibly steep. I wanted this set so badly that I shelled out the money but others may not be so willing. I remember checking the price of this set 7-8 months ago and it was $330? anyway, everything came as delivered and luckily, I am not a box collector because it came in decent shape aside from knicks on the edges. the fronts and the backs of the box were pretty scraped. I know some people like to collect the box so, be weary of this purchase especially for the price it is. overall, I made the choice to spend the money, and I don’t collect the boxes so, this was just it for me and so much more. amazing set.

Very fun to build, looks great on display!
Bought this "Like New" fro0m a seller, and though the box looked like it had been run over by a school bus, it contained all of the original pieces in their original plastic bags as if it had been opened, but never built. This was an extremely fun build for my husband and I! It's been a while since we both played with Legos, so coming back and building such an iconic ship from Star Wars was such a blast. The instructions are fairly well detailed, just understand that some parts you have to make duplicates of. It's slightly repetitive building each side, but we finally finished the build in just over 8 hours. The color and details are excellent, and the model is pretty true to the original design of the Slave 1. It comes with a stand (that you must build) and displays very nicely on our shelf in the living room! We couldn't be happier with the fun of the build, as well as the final product. At just under 2000 pieces, it's no small task to put together, but it's a fun project to work on!

As you wish.
I struggled on the decision to buy this item because it costs so much, but after a few months of eyeing the Slave 1 online and at local toy stores I finally caved in and bought it. The truth is I love Boba Fett, and that is the only reason I wanted it; this makes a great addition to my collection. I have never made any other lego model that was this extensive; this literally took several hours for me to build. To end this point I just want to say that I do not regret buying this. As I expected from the picture and from the price, this thing is huge, and I think that is one of the great features for the model. I really like how this is to scale for a lego mini figure. Since this is so big I would not recommend playing with this; otherwise it might fall and break. I know that most of the fun in playing with legos is putting it together and using your imagination, but the reason you would spend 200 or so dollars on this is to have the Slave 1; I'm not taking this apart for a long time. You will want a good shelf to put this on, and make sure small children and animals can not reach it. The build was enjoyable, and not too hard so long as you are good at reading and following directions. The final product is very satisfying to see. The one thing I did not like about this product was the manual. First of all it is huge, this is not my complaint. But, it is so big that there were a few mistakes in mine. One step was missing in the directions, but it was a step that was a mirror of another, so it wasn't hard to figure out. For what ever reason several pages in my book were not completely separated, and they ended up tearing as I needed to turn the pages. This happened to nearly 20 of my pages, but I bet that this was a rare assurance. Don't buy this for a kid, buy it for yourself if you are a collector.
