Gifted and Talented COGAT Test Prep: Gifted test prep book for the COGAT; Workbook for children in preschool and kindergarten (Gifted Games)

This book is absolutely perfect! I have had a great time going over the pages with my son. He is 8 but has trouble processing information. I found this book to be a perfect way to engage him in activities that stimulate his brain and cause him to think about the answers. Since they no longer bring school books home I am able to use this book to help him focus and engage him in describing why he chose his answers. It truly is a phenomenal tool! This is the second book I have purchased for this purpose by Gateway Gifted Resources and I am always pleased with the books. My son doesn't even realize he is working. He finds it fun and I love watching him think through the questions. The bright pictures hold his attention and there isn't so much reading that he gets bored. The directions are simple and to the point.

I really like this book. It is bright and colorful and should be very easy for the child to follow. My K child, also enjoys the workbook, she will go through multiple pages without complaint or prompting. Each 3rd of the book is dedicated to a different test, but the problems are very similar across the test headings, that many should find the whole book useful regardless of which test your district uses. I don't think you can really study up for a gifted test, but you can certainly ensure that your child has a familiarity with the kinds of questions they will see on the test. This book will help with that, which should help with errors that can occur just because what they will see, may be like nothing they've done before. The exposure to similar test questions, in a home environment, should also help with kids that are naturally anxious in test taking situations. Although there is no way to tell if this will have had any impact chiild's score, since this will be her first time being tested, I will update once her scores are in.

I am a math major and I am very impressed with the level of exercises in this book. They are very good and not easy peasy. I think this book is great to have even if you don't plan to send your child to the gifted and talented program. All the materials are colorful and well structured. I do not understand how some parents could say this book was confusing and not good. I went through each and every exercise myself and found everything logical. There are plenty of test materials.

Great prep book for preschool and kindergarten kids! Lots of practice questions, colorful pages, and helpful answer explanations. My child stayed engaged and improved focus while practicing. Worth it!

Book has interesting questions and it has level with kindergardeners

I am so happy with this purchase. My son and I worked on this prior to his GT test and he was selected for the GT program at his school. At first, I thought that the questions may be too difficult for him, but they were not, and the directions were easy to follow. The illustrations in the book were great. I would highly recommend this book for your young child. This book helped my son prepare for the test and he was confident going into it because he was prepared. Thank you so much to the authors!

I am so bored of all those books with letters and numbers to trace. This book contains a series of logical games. You’ll be teaching your kid concepts like sequencing and categories. Obviously you’ll need to help them up, if anything to so that they understand the prompt, so if you don’t have the time books aren’t the best medium to have your child learn. Also fun to see how they think. You can learn a lot by seeing your child learn

I reviewed the book before I worked with it with my preschooler. I had to put serious thought into some of the questions. Others were way too easy. To maximize the benefits of the book, a parent or adult should regularly offer feedback to the child, explain why the answers are what they are, and not let the child work through the entire book alone. Flipping back and forth in the book was cumbersome. Also, for the price, there should be more content.
