I WISH Amazon would change its rating system to10 stars! This is a DEFINITE 9!!
Author Douglas E. Richards has done a great job at building a book that grabs you from the very start and does almost nothing but accelerate all the way to the end. From waking up in a filth-ridden dumpster with NO memory of who he is, he steps into a gas-station bathroom only to find that he can read the mind of a contract killer just outside the door who has HIM for his target. And that’s not even close to all of what goes on in this thriller. It was an absolute pleasure to read, with twists and turns throughout the length of it. It was one of those books that read incredibly fast, was difficult to set down, and still managed to throw a neat love story or two in there as well.I gave it four stars only because there were a few unnecessary developments toward the end that could have been left out – having to do with a gratuitous plot twist meant to shock us – but even that didn’t hurt my overall sentiment that this is a book I would eagerly recommend to any one looking for a great read. The best news of all? Richards has several sequels to this book, and all of them are equally well rated. I look forward to diving into them.

My first time reading this author
This was the first book I had ever read by this author, and because I enjoyed it so much, I have since read many of his other books. The Nick Hall series is my favorite work of this author, and while there are a few titles that weren't my favorite, the majority of them are well worth reading. The main thing I loved about this book (and the author in general) is the way he combines real science with plausible, though fictitious story lines to simultaneously entertain and educate me. I happily allowed myself to be immersed in the story, and I enjoyed the way he blurred the line between fact and fiction.Sometimes when I read a sci-fi book or watch a sci-fi movie, the fictional part of the story is so at odds with what I know about science that I can't suspend my disbelief long enough to get into the story. Not only is that not a problem with this author, but I found myself thinking and talking about elements of this book for weeks after I finished it.I was even able to convince my husband to listen to the audio version, and he enjoyed it so much that he willingly listened to the rest of the Nick Hall series.

minds Eye
Great read, lots of good N bad guys. Private company’s the US government and people who can read minds. WEW! Implants bring a new understanding to “ self educated”. Lots of hugs and kisses. Newbies getting to know each other and experiment with implants which give you unfettered access to other people’s minds. Talk about skeletons. ,give your time and study, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Mr. Richards, you’ve made a believer out of me.

Very Interesting
Overall, enjoyable read. You have to ask yourself, “how far away are we to this technology”? We all have private thoughts that should be private. I’ve read all of his books. For me, they are all 5 stars or 4 stars. I’m always entertained.

Enjoyable
I've enjoyed this book very much because it's quite technical and that's how I love my scifi. There was one huge tech fact they've ignored for the sake of easy-story-flow (hint: IP), but other than that it was great! Adventure, love, action and more, combined well. Can't wait for the next installment, if there will be one.

Hard pill to swallow…
I love Mr. Richard’s books but this one was a difficult read. It took me a week plus instead of a day or two to wade through as I continually got annoyed with the story. Far-fetched, contrived, and non-believable. Sorry Doug, this one was a bit of a fail for me.

Great read
I enjoyed this and plan to read the next one in the series. I just hope it's as good as this one.

Entertaining read that keeps you guessing
Richards is a very clear writer and has a good ability to give enough hints to put your attention elsewhere. His stories usually have the hero,A brilliant guy and his new found girlfriend/love interest. I often get the impression that the hero is Richards alter ego, even though the hero is usually awkward early in their relationship, yet he always gets the girl.this is a worthwhile read for pleasure and the examination of what will new technology will change the world.Douglas thanks for a good job.

Intriguing story, but not page turner
For the most part I found this book to be an intriguing and interesting story. However, I nearly put it down several times without finishing it. The long narratives and back story peppered throughout the story was somewhat boring. I am glad I stuck it out as the last quarter of the book made it worth the read. The twists and turns in the plot was predictable, but still effective. I found the dialogue between the main characters a little over done and, in some cases, not very realistic. The technical expertise of the author is apparent throughout the book, but this also could be the reason for some the boring and, in my opinion, unnecessary long narratives. I sometimes felt like I was reading a graduate thesis rather than a thriller novel. The action scenes are well developed and effectively written (the seldom seen action scenes actually saved this book.). As the author of a thriller novel of my own, I read this genre hoping to pick up tips an ideas for my own work. I didn't find any I could use in this book. However, the theme is very compelling and up to date. While I don't believe (I could be wrong) that any of this technology is going to seen inside of the next 50 years, it does get your attention. For those who enjoy science fiction with current topics, I can recommend this book for a decent read. But for me it didn't work enough to make me want to explore other books in this series by this author.

Excellent techno thriller, a fun read from start to finish.
Douglas E Richards has produced another excellent techno thriller in Mind's Eye.Nick Hall awakes with no memory of who he is or how he came to be hunted by professional killers. He finds he has the ability to mentally surf the internet and can also read people's thoughts. There follows a frantic adventure as Nick tries to answer these questions whilst staying alive! As well as the thrilling nature of the novel, Richards cleverly explores the ethics, morality and consequences of having such abilities. With only five typos in the entire 350pp plus novel, a minor miracle in today's publishing world, it's a fast-paced, gripping read. Highly recommended.

Starts well, goes downhill
Just about scrapes three stars. Pity. Started well. Nick Hall wakes up in a dumpster, with no memory but the ability to read minds. Oh, and he can access the Internet just using his brain. So a great premise. The first half continued to be pretty good as Nick works out how to handle his new powers and meets a girl with whom he can communicate telepathically. Alas the second half got sillier and sillier. Far too many unbelievable characters introduced. Do we have to read about yet another arch villain who's a hugely wealthy psychopath? The author spends an awful lot of time and effort explaining the workings of the increasingly unlikely plot, which gets pretty tiresome..

Thought provoking
I enjoyed the plotting of this. It is a clever and interesting read, especially when you reach the end and are introduced to the science forecasts. The story moves at a rapid pace and is enjoyable.

Ok! But.
The first half of this book is great. The self discovery on the part of the main character, his predicament, his fight to survive and understand is all so good and interesting. Then the action is replaced by discussion, argument, and politics on the subject of his predicament albeit with characters who are either out to save him or out to kill him. All of which interesting as it was, left me a just a bit pleased to finally get to the end.
