KTÄK -The First Handcrafted, Hand Drum Percussion, Two-Sound Cajón Body Snare, Portable Cajon by Kandu with Carry Case (Black)

I play this drum regularly with a brass band and amplification, it adds those middle tones somewhere between the bass drum and snare. The adjustment works well and it could be used with any age range.

A friend of mine demonstrated the Ktak on Darbuka Planet’s website and I was hooked. It is a pricier than other similar mini cajons BUT the others had mixed reviews- the most common complaint was poor craftsmanship. Many complained of split or gaping seams. The Ktak is very well-made. All the seams are tight and clean thereby having good projection via the sound hole.Sound: it’s not very loud but it does play well and is perfect for those of you who also play the doumbek, it has almost identical playability and would be a great practice drum that won’t bother the neighbors. I think it would probably sound good mic’d up - I will soon get an idea of how it will sound through a sound system and will update accordingly.Playability: it has a lot of character and subtle nuanced tones.Strap: I had to change the strap. I am a portly dood and the stretch strap included just was too small - so I easily unscrewed the strap holders and mounted a standard guitar strap, now it works perfectly.Side note: I also teach inner city kids drumming and bucket drumming in my city’s parks. I am seriously considering starting a GoFundMe page to purchase more of these to start a hand drum class for my kids - given the Ktak’s small size - they would be perfect for traveling from park to park

I friggin' love this little body cajon!!!! I can't stop running my hands over its lovely finish, so smooth and pretty! I love that it has the snarish sound on one side, and when you flip it over it has a more woodish, bongo sound. And I love that flipping it from front to back does not tangle the strap because the fasteners on the drum swivel! When I opened it I thought the straps looked really small, but when I put it on I found that the straps are elasticized, not too tight, just right. And it's adjustable for sharing with your friends who aren't quite so generously proportioned! I am looking forward to driving my husband crazy with this fun, beautiful, very professional looking, high quality little travel cajon!

Decent drum. But crafting it and quality control is lacking. I received the package in soft wrapper packaging. I'm honestly surprised it was not smashes during transit. The belt attached to the drum rubbed into the wood which was not appealing. The shipping packaging needs alot of work. The actual drum has crafting and quality issues. After inspection there are obviously gaps in the segments of the side walls connecting each other. Air gaps for sound to escape which causes sound loss. Will test out drum and update review accordingly.

This is my first Ktak. I love the beauty and sound of this and I am looking forward to learning to play it. I’m not crazy about the strap though or the way it’s screwed into it. I do love that, like my Gecko Cajon, it comes with a nice carry case.

This is a fun little percussion instrument. I like the fact that it’s reversible. One side has a snare sound the other more like a bongo. I’m having fun with it.

This drum is so fun and easy to play. It is so well made and has a great finish. It may be more expensive than similar drums but the workmanship is outstanding. I would highly recommend this drum. Along with this Ktak drum, I have also own their cajonga and cabonga drums which are equally excellent. The drum fits easily into a messenger bag. It is lots of fun!

This little drum exceeded my expectations more than I imagined it would. Sound quality is great given its size. Construction is solid. It even came with a travel bag, which I did not expect. The snare wire is well attached, and replaceable with a long enough screwdriver. I can't wait to hit the streets with this thing this summer!
