Three years ago, I moved from lush and moist Portland, Oregon, to the desert of Idaho. Within weeks, I looked like the Joker. My lips were cracked and splitting at the edges, beet red, and burning no matter what I put on them. I caked on Aquaphor ointment and petroleum jelly, Neosporin, and dozens of chapsticks and NOTHING could save my poor lips. It went on for weeks, maybe even a month!Finally I found the answer. It was the night time. That was when my lips were exposed and suffering the most, and once I found this lip repair cream - I kid you not - I have not missed a single night of applying it to my lips, in 3 years I haven’t missed a night. It protects them all night long and gives them the moisture barrier that they need to make it in this dry climate for 8 hours at a time.I have given this cream away as gifts to visitors who also aren’t used to the dry climate. It lasts a good long time. I want to say each little container lasts about 6 months or more. It goes on so smooth and buttery - I love the feel of it, but better yet, I love how it has completely rescued my poor burning lips.

My lips are perpetually dry and chapped. I think it’s caused by some of my medications that are extremely drying to my system. I am forever searching for my Holy Grail lip treatment (you should see my lippie collection - I might be able to set some kind of record!)Anyway, I saw this lip repair balm on one of those BuzzFeed lists of items you must have from Amazon, and I read a bunch of reviews, and figured I’d try it.The balm comes in a little pot-like jar with a screw top, and no applicator or spatula, so beware: if you’re like me and you don’t like to stick your finger in lip balm jars to use the product, you will want to get a small cosmetic spatula or lipstick brush. The consistency of the repair balm is thick - firmer than petroleum jelly. If you warm your applicator a little bit, it makes it easier to scoop a little bit out. A little goes a long way, which makes this a good value for your money. There is no scent and no taste, which is fine with me. I left one star off because the product has a weird texture for a lip balm. It’s grainy - like it feels a bit like a very weak, mild lip scrub. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that, but I have gotten other balms that have been that way and was told that can happen with extreme weather changes (in temperature.) It doesn’t affect the efficacy lip balm, and after a while, it does dissolve. I’ve heard that if you warm the jar up a bit by putting it in a pot of very hot water for a few minutes, it should melt it all down and then will be smooth after it cools. I haven’t tried that with this one, but I have some that with another lip balm that I bought online. It just feels grainy for a short time, so I’ve just dealt with it.As far as performance ,it does make my lips feel soft and hydrated, and it does last a little bit longer than some other lip balms I’ve used, but I wouldn’t say it’s my holy grail lippie. I put it on before I go to sleep, and it is gone by morning. When I use it during the day, I have to reapply fairly often. Overall, it’s a good, moisturizing lip balm for dry and chapped lips, and it’s worth the price, I guess. I don’t feel like it’s significantly better than most of the other lip balms out there. I do wish the result lasted longer than it does.

Really helps dry lips. During heating season my lips get painfully dry. This stuff helps protect them, allowing them time to repair themselves. No odd smell, nor is there any real taste. The pot isn't ideal, but does survive better than a stick in warm environments. There is a slight grittiness I wish wasn't there, but overall it's good stuff.

I have a medical condition, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome my body basically reacts to EVERYTHING. I used an over night lotion that contained hydrochloric acid . When I woke up I did not look younger as I hoped …I did end up with a chemical burn around my mouth. I tried numerous lip balms that I had each hurt and actually made the area get worse. My husband is a big fan of the O’keeffes’s products so I decided to give it a try.My order arrived the next day. The product is 0.25 Oz. Which is probably the average size of other lip balms. As soon as I applied the balm I felt INSTANT relief! It did not burn at all. This balm has no scent, only soothing relief. Within a couple hours I noticed a difference in my lips and the charred skin surrounding my mouth. The product is recommended as an over night repair. I just ordered the O’keeffe’s day time balm which I am sure will keep my lips hydrated moving forward.I highly recommend !!!
