Review: Wow does it work, but you're not gonna like what it does, lol - I live in yellow fly country and they are just a nasty creature. Especially when you have a pool. I researched and ended up getting this. Let me say that it attracts flies like nobody's business. And the longer you have it, the more it attracts. You can use the included powder and add a bit of water (stinks big time) and pretty soon a few flies will wander in. Here's the devious part. The trapped flies lay eggs and eat the remains of their brethren. Then they die. The more dead bugs the stinkier it gets which attracts more and more and the cycle accelerates. Deviously brilliant. Biggest problem is it really does stink, so if a breeze blows it toward you, you're gonna know. The worst part is what to do with it when it gets full. I didn't notice any helpful insects in the mix, like bees. Mainly just black and yellow flies. So that's great compared to a bug zapper which kills everything.
Review: Revolting but effective - We have backyard chickens and it is almost impossible to stay on top of sweeping all of the never ending chicken turds. If you have chickens you know what I mean. They poop nonstop. Ours eat tons of spinach and berries so they have liquid poops that flies will nest in. In the summer when it was hot we were constantly having flies inside from our dog going in and out and the back door being pushed open, and flies inside are disgusting. We tried to clean the poop daily, put diatomaceous earth on the poop immediately to dry it out, put up outdoor fly paper, etc. Nothing really helped at all. There were flies constantly on all of my plants, in the dirt, in the chicken coop despite regular cleanings, etc. so I bought this. I would highly suggest wearing disposable gloves when you fill it and to hang it securely high up enough that animals can’t get near it. We hung it at the top of our privacy fence, on a hook, as far away from our back door and garage as possible. Flies will be swarming around it and you might need to add extra water if you live somewhere hot or the water level doesn’t seem high enough to drown them after awhile. Even when ours was full of flies, I never noticed a terribly strong smell coming from it. The number of flies did die down quickly, though we did have to continue other preventive measures like cleaning up the chicken poop in the yard from them free ranging and keeping our coop clean. We also used Stall Dry and First Saturday Lime inside our coop and do the deep litter method, though we do scoop the poop tray beneath the roost where the hens poop at night every other day and put that old bedding in our yard waste because the poop builds up very quickly. It’s now winter time (we’re in the PNW and the winters are relatively mild.) We started having flies in our house again and I realized that the container was very full and a whitish layer was floating at the top that prevented the incoming flies from drowning, the container was almost totally full and it was time to replace it. I know you can buy new packets for the container, though attempting to clean it out was way more than I was willing to do and I really didn’t want my husband doing it and spilling it on himself, either. My husband very carefully, with gloves on, secured the container with the liquid/dead flies inside within multiple plastic bags so it couldn’t leak into our outdoor garbage can. I would suggest doing this away from your yard where your kids or pets play, our dog always tries to roll in stinky stuff so my husband did this at an abandoned lot since it’s easy to spill some of the stank. If you choose to clean the container out, you’re braver than me and I don’t have any tips. They are inexpensive enough and lasted us around 6 months so I think they’re worth just replacing entirely. If you have chickens, please don’t feed the dead flies to them. That is just disgusting and messed up to do to your hens. Flies are filthy creatures and I would never knowingly eat eggs that came from a chicken eating buckets of rancid, dead flies in stank juice. We would highly recommend this product if you have lots of dogs, chickens, horses or other animals that poop everywhere and attract flies. I saw some comments complaining that this product attracted all of the flies from the neighborhood. I didn’t find this to be the case and the flies In our yard quickly decreased after putting this product up.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What fill line?**
A: I didn't look for a fill line. I simply filled the jar half full of water and added the attractant packet. You just need sufficient water to drown the flies that enter the trap. Around my backyard chicken coop (6 hens) the jars fill with flies within 2-3 weeks in the summer and have to be emptied. This product works extremely well.

**Q: I keep honeybees - would they be caught up in this as well?**
A: I’ve used these for a few years now, multiple traps around the yard and garden. One is right next to a flowering shrub that the bees love. Never caught a single bee in these things. They smell vile and bees aren’t attracted to rotten eggs as far as I know. Just an incredible amount of flies.

**Q: Does this have an odor like the fly traps??**
A: I added the packet to the water in the jar while outside. I never noticed a really bad odor. Each day for several days I swirled the solution containing the flys to keep the fluid over the dead flys per the instructions. I didn’t notice a bad smell while doing this.

**Q: Can I feed the trapped flies to chickens**
A: It depends on the bait you are using. After all, the flies will be consuming it and bathed in it. This product states the attractant is non-toxic and insecticide free. As long as that is true, it is perfectly safe to feed to your chickens in reasonable quantities. (Don't dump a full trap of flies at once for a handful of chickens.) And maggots, YUM, are just fly larvae that have hatched inside the trap. They are a bonus the chickens will adore.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best fly trap ever!
*by M***G on June 26, 2020*

Picture of the nastiness for proof of how well this works. We've had it up for less than 2 weeks (gross, I know). Our neighbors have chickens, local strays like to poop in my flower box (yet to find a solution for that) and it's frustrating because we are in the yard all the time and the flies make it unbearable. Last year was so bad despite spraying our yard, cans etc and multiple fly traps. We usually get several of the bag and sticky traps. It felt like there was no end last year. Within an hour of setting this up, the flies were already buzzing around this thing instead of us. We keep it near the trash cans and it seems to draw most of them away from our seating area. Granted theres a few stragglers here and there, but they meet their demise with my husband and his trusty swatter. It stanks if you're close to it, but it's not as bad as I expected. It also doesn't stink up our whole yard, like other traps do. I do think you need to have it close enough to draw them away, not in the furthest corner of your yard, if you're trying to keep them away from a certain area. It was easy for my husband to set up. I saw another review about scooping the dead flies out and adding water which we need to do soon (by "we" I mean my husband)! Our fly issue is greatly reduced! Our sanity restored. Overall, I highly recommend this. If you're on the fence, just get it. I sit here, outside, with no flies trying to get into my drink, able to enjoy the yard, questioning my sanity as I gleefully lay my eyes on the dead bodies of my foe.
