it works
I purchase it as I have to recover from a bursitis in my knee and, in order to keep swimming, I should not use my legs for a while as it put to much stress on my knees. So, I decided to give a shoot to the pull buoy. I found it is easy to use and it really works. It allows swimming using only the arms and it obviously give strength to the arms and shoulders, and reinforce the brace training.Previously, I saw several swimmers using it and saw they crossed their legs around it. So, I remember thinking that it may not be too good an idea as it may put a perpendicular force that will reduce the swimming speed and may be uncomfortable; I never thought in buying one. However, due to my bursitis I decided to try it. I found that there are no instructions or suggestions on how to use the buoy and, remembering my thought, I decided to hold the buoy in between my legs, not crossing my legs. It does work that way and I don't feel any pulling or discomfort in using it.By the way, the buoy has a thicker side and there is no indication from the factory on how to set it, to the front or to the back of the body. So, I tried it the two ways and it works putting the thicker side to the back of the body while swimming breast, crawl or butterfly styles; it will be up to the surface of the water. Change it to do a back stroke. So, it means that the bout thicker part should always be up towards the surface of the water.

Easy to use, light weight and inexpensive.
This pull buoy is a major upgrade from those I used on my high school swim team. Those buoys were held together with string and tended to move around a lot, sometimes coming apart in the middle of a workout. The single piece construction of these buoys from Speedo is a great evolution. There is enough buoyancy to keep even the boniest of legs afloat without being overly bulky.I just purchased a second one for my wife who was no longer content with sharing one between us.

Great!
I've only used this once thus far, so I can't comment on its durability. However, this is very comfortable and works as it is intended. Definitely worth purchasing if you are trying to improve your swim. I'm training for triathlons, so this is great to use so that I can give my upper body more of a workout. In tri's you don't use your legs too much on the swim portion. However, don't become dependent on this swimming aid...this is just a great training tool.

Comfortable and functional
I've been swimming for over fifteen years, and it's still relaxing to put a buoy between my knees and just focus on my pull form. This is comfortable, cute, and it does what I want it to. A note for small swimmers: this is more buoyant than others I've used, so if your bodyweight is low (probably 130 or less), you might want to find a smaller one.

So much better than rope!
I'm glad to see that the pull buoy has come a long way. I remember the old days when it was two foam cylinders tied together with rope that gave you rope burn. This one is so light and so comfortable. I also like that it is a pretty pink and gray color and pretty distinct. This makes doing arm work so much more enjoyable.

Great for beginning swimmers
I am a beginning swimmer who was having trouble with form. A friend suggested I get a pull buoy to work on my stroke so I would have to worry less about keeping the lower half of my body up. After just a week of using this I can already feel the difference in not only my upper body strength but also my overall form. Really helps with breathing technique as well!

Slippery when wet
I wear a jammer when swimming and this thing is pretty slippery in the water, so I usually only make it about 200 yards before I have to stop to move it back into place. Maybe that's just an issue with the material of my suit, though. Other than that, great price for an essential piece of swimmer's gear.

Got this for my hubby
I was hoping he was going to be able to swim and build his core with this product, but he was in too much pain. So he just walks his way around the pool. I tried it and it does work very well. Works your stomach muscles more than just swimming by keeping your heavy end up in the pool. If you get my drift.....
