Jawbone dumped Bodymedia - and its customers
To use this device, you are required to have a subscription to the Bodymedia website (monthly fee of $8). Jawbone purchased Bodymedia in 2013 but stopped supporting bodymedia at some point late last year. I purchased the armband in March of 2015 and it worked fine for a few weeks until an upgrade to the website caused the data to be inaccurate after it was uploaded from that point forward. I contacted customer service several times. I was first told it was a known issue that was being worked on but on a subsequent call, I was told by the rep that Jawbone had basically stopped supporting bodymedia and the problem was not being addressed. The best option she had was for me to cancel my subscription - making my practically brand new device unusable! I have continued to use because the digital display was still accurate (the error was when i uploaded to the web) so on a daily basis, I could track calories burned correctly. But as of today (Aug 3, 2015), the bodymedia website domain has apparently expired and there is no way to use the device at all! This is a product still under warantee that is unusable. As a company still heavily involved in the activity tracker market, I would have expected this to be handled in a way that didn't disgust its customers! Where was the comminication letting us know this was happening? What options are they offering customers who own and use bodymedia devices? This is pitiful.

Great Product - great price.
Works perfectly. I sync it with my iPhone, and the iPhone syncs with the website perfectly. MyFitnessPal software works in conjunction with the BodyMedia software - very smooth and easy to use.

DO NOT PURCHASE -- NO SERVICE
Do not get me wrong: This is a great product. However, it no longer functions -- at all. When Jawbone bought BodyMedia a couple years ago, they lauded the device's accuracy and said they planned on incorporating its technology into its own devices (though I'm skeptical they did that at all). They then shut down all production, gradually reduced services and, finally, on Jan. 31, 2016, shut down all services, so that the devices no longer function at all. There is no way to get data off the device anymore, so it simply doesn't work. The vastly reduced prices should have been an indicator, but as an existing user buying a future replacement, I didn't receive any notification from the company that the product was going to stop working or that any existing re-sale product would never work, nor did any of the re-sellers mention this. If you buy this, you wasted every penny you spent on it. Just don't. (I've been using a MIsfit Shine/Shine 2 for a while, so I'll stick with that alone now, rather than buy anything from Jawbone.)

Purchsed the BodyMedia Link to use in conjunction with the ...
Purchased the BodyMedia Link to use in conjunction with the DotFit fitness program offered through Crunch Gyms. It was not until AFTER I bought two of the units that I found out Jawbone bought out BodyMedia and the products are being discontinued. So, no one is selling replacement straps (you are out of luck if yours wears out) and Jawbone is only supporting the BodyMedia Link for I.T. type issues. I have never been able to get it to sync properly with the DotFit program and just gave up. Save yourself the hassel and buy a FitBit or some other product.

This item is discontinued so beware...
I just got my BodyMedia LINK yesterday so I can't review the functionality just yet other than to say it was easy to set up. I did want to let everyone know that it comes with a medium strap and I don't know why I didn't think to look into that part because I have big arms so it is a concern. And sure enough it is much too small. The only place I could find selling the straps is BodyMedia itself and when I got to the end of the checkout process an error came up and said "Thank you for your interest in BodyMedia. We are no longer selling the BodyMedia line of products but will continue to support current users with the Activity Manager services." So that is probably a good thing to know if you are just now buying one of their products because it begs the question - how long will they continue to support the Activity Manager?

I really like my body media armband
I really like my body media armband. It's accurate and reliable and easy to use. It helps me stay on track with my diet and exercise. I'm still not sure how beneficial the "link" is, though, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. Having the info on my phone isn't really necessary in my opinion.

Armband straps no longer available. So when the Velcro wears out or your armband breaks this item no longer works.
Item works great, except now you can't get replacement arm straps!

Love! I'm all about the gadgetry to stay fit
Love! I'm all about the gadgetry to stay fit. This seems very accurate and tracks more than just the standard step. It syncs with sparkpeople, which I love, so I'm able to keep up with calories in, calories out, sleep efficiency, weight loss and whether my daily activity is moderate or intense. I do have to slightly vary where I place it on my arm each day so as not to irritate my skin. Also in enjoy seeing weekly or monthly reports to track my progress.
