If you are new to reggae music this is a game changer. The beginning of Rap right here! These are all tracks and rhythms that influenced hip hop and reggae ever since in basslines beats samples lyrics, but here it is in the original. Before release these track versions could only be found on 45's and were played mostly in Jamaica. The rhythms on this are all classic Studio One rhythms with surprises this is one worth getting since it is all previously unreleased on cd however beware of other Soul Jazz Studio One releases because they are known to use the same song version on many of their releases. Sugar Minott at Studio One is another gem. I also recommend any Studio One Heartbeat Records release.

Careful! this will lead you to buy more reggae! this album is just a player, some great tracks on this double LP.....sounds great , there are some inconsistency in the levels but its so worth it...cant imagine being disappointed in less you had all these albums already.

Great versions of great songs

I could write an elaborate review on how Sir Coxsone Dodd and Studio 1 is great, but id rather just tell you to buy this album and see the proof in itself. Classic dub bizzness in the place. You wont be dissapointed!ps, i believe Sylvan Morris is also credited for the production of this album.

these studio one LPs are pretty damn awesome .... i have no idea what sources they are compiling from, and at this point i really don't care, as the records just sound fantastic. the bass is obviously very prominent and makes my living room vibrate lol ..... the LPs were flat, centred, and quiet. the 2014 pressing i have was manufactured at MPO, which i believe is in France. and i don't believe i've ever had a dud from them so buy with confidence i'd say. i'm not saying copies never have defects, but the worst i've seen from them is warped vinyl .... and that is easily managed via exchange or by using a 'vinyl flat'. i also have this on cd, which is great for the car etc .... but vinyl is the way i love listening to these collection of classics.

sehr gute Zusammenstellung von souljazz, dem tollen Label für liebevoll überarbeitete Reggae/dub scheiben aus Studio ! und es macht spass die cd allein auszupacken. gutes und informatives booklett vom meister Steve barrow und auch an der songauswahl gibt es nichts zu meckern. das sind noch CDs, die spass machen weil man das Herzblut bemerkt, das in der Produktion dieser tollen reihe rein geflossen ist. überragent und natürlich kaufempfehlung.

You can never go wrong with these SoulJazz issues. great collection of classic tracks preserved in the best quality possible. One for the ages!
