Marisa, the flashy magician, can never have too many stars.This is a wonderful book that any fan of Touhou should be proud to have! Part of the official Touhou canon, it's Marisa Kirisame's personal magic book, where she keeps records of various characters' "spell cards": the unique and intricate bullet patterns that they each use as weapons in the games. You'll see the work of characters up through the eleventh Touhou game, Subterranean Animism. The book is packed with in-game screenshots of the bullets in action, and also includes several gorgeous full-page full-color illustrations of some of the characters who use them.The book itself in an unusual format, short and square rather than any standard size, which is no problem, but good to know if you intend to display it somewhere (which you should!). Also, the text is in Japanese, but -- true to the style of a western witch -- the book reads left-to-right instead of right-to-left, which is a cute touch...As for the text, though, if you're unable to read Japanese you should absolutely search up the fanmade translations on the Touhou Wiki once you have the hard copy in your hands and can follow along, because Marisa's commentary is very entertaining (for example, the enthusiasm she shows for particularly over-the-top patterns), and the overall message about the meaning of "danmaku" as, rather than a war, one big beautiful game...is extremely charming. This is what the Touhou Project is all about!On top of that, the book comes with a music CD featuring two original songs by ZUN which really capture Marisa's spirit and which you don't otherwise get to hear in-game. Please, do yourself a favor as a fan and buy this lovely product!

A fun little book for fans of the Touhou games. It mostly contains screenshots and descriptions of the spell cards used by various characters in the games, but there's also a page of art featuring one of the girls every so often.The book is in Japanese, but translations are easy to find online. The included CD contains 2 music tracks and 2 walpaper images, one being the cover spread. It's about 8"x8", which is smaller than expected, but it is still a nice addition to my collection of game books.

Nice little book with lots of info about various Spellcards from the game, as well as a few nice illustrations. The jacket sleeve is also nice - it has a nice shimmery star pattern that shines in the light, much like one of Marisa's own spell cards!The book is all in Japanese but there are translations online. A good book for any Touhou fan.

I've only recently been graced with the power of the Touhou Project, but have loved it ever since. I got this book because I find Marisa to be a very likable character and wanted to see more of what her and the other characters can do (this is because I suck at the games and never get to fully see everyone's danmaku). I love the artwork and the screenshots of the games, and the symbols for each character is also very likable and sum that person up very well. Now if only I could read Japanese....

The book is smaller than expected but that is not a problem. The dust jacket for the hardcover is amazing; it has a holographic star pattern covering the entire jacket underneath the cover art. The material inside is in Japanese but it has so many pictures that it almost doesn't matter.

Arrived in good condition and everything intact. Comes with a music disk but only has two 5 min tracks.The book itself is what is worthwhile. About 160 pages of art, descriptions of in game attacks, and little lore tidbits for touhou fans.

I played Touhou games about five years ago, but I hadn't bought accessories. Someday, I happened to see this book and was moved by nostalgy.In this book, Marisa Kirisame introduces "Spell" to us. Her introductions are so unique, and talks from a fighter's point of view.Such a way of telling a story give me the memories that I fought against Remilia, Yukari, Kaguya and so many. Nowadays, I have no time to play games, so I take good care of this book forever.

新品と書かれたものを購入したはずなのですが、本の中身が汚く、付属のCDも外されていました。あまり安いものでもないので、中古品ならそう書いて頂きたかったです。

新品買ったのに表紙の端が少しボロボロだった。もうちょっと丁寧に梱包して発送してほしかったです。

発売を知って迷わず買いました。各キャラの弾幕を魔理沙視点で解説(というかキャラによっては一言二言のみの場合もある)してあります。今までに出ていない設定もあったりして、発言が魔理沙(ZUN氏)だけあって、きとんと設定に基づいて二次創作などをしたい方には必須なのではないでしょうか。求聞史記もそうでしたが、カバーがハードカバーで読みづらいです。できれば文化帖のように中閉じ(？)にしてほしかったです。内容ですが、読み物としても結構楽しめました。「この弾幕は宴会のときに見た」だの「当たると痛いんだよな」とか臨場感あっておもしろいです(笑)個人的には、魔理沙の自分自身の弾幕の説明がおもしろかったです。あとルーミアの弾幕のコメントが･･･ルーミア好きなので少し悲しかったです(まああれ以上言うことないでしょうけど･･･)非想天則の弾幕(スペカ)まで載っているのでｷｬｰやてんこのも載ってます。挿絵のカラーイラストも上手でいい感じ。魔理沙と各キャラとの人間関係というか相対図も垣間見えたりして弾幕以外のとこでも楽しめました♪
